If one of my neighbors children were found that way, I'd have no qualms about allowing LE into my home. I wouldn't want them to waste one minute wondering if I had anything to hide. I'd rather they put their energy into something useful.

News 8 WFAA played part of the raw interview with MM.
Entire uncut video on WFAA website.

He's not sure LE wants him to disclose the last time she was seen.

Why is that?

As someone up above said. The perp knows the last time she was seen.

I am someone who pays no attention to kids in my neighborhood, although basically there are not many in the country neighborhood where I live. I would not recognize one if s/he came up and talked to me. My kids are grown. No interest in the neighborhood children.

But if there was a kid missing, and I knew what time, I would reflect back on what I was doing and where I was. What did I see, if anything. Otherwise, why bother and my memory of any particular day has faded.

I simply do not understand this. None of it.

I'm the kind of parent who is over the top protective. Admittedly. Mine do not play out front without supervision and never have. I volunteered every single day at their schools. Yes, every single day. I am the first to look down my nose at what I perceive to be bad parenting.

That being said, I've also been witness to media coverage after a murder and seen people interviewed who knew nothing about the victim or what transpired. They were simply in the same school as the victim, but were reported to be "close friends". The things they said were simply not true, but everyone close to the victim was too devastated to be all over tv telling everything they knew. I was appalled to see them come inside bragging about how they were going to be on tv! It really opened my eyes to how the media will grab anyone standing around for their perspective.

According to MM (in the interview last night), she told him she was going to a friend's house. So they knew where she was going. Should they have watched her get there? Should they have confirmed that she made it there and expected a phone call from said neighbor saying she was on her way home? I certainly would have, but again, I'm considered a "helicopter" parent by many.

As a parent, we can't win. We are either smothering them or neglectful with no in-between for most on the outside looking in.

Perfectly said. I think it's horrible that people jump right on them being neglectful parents when all we have is the bare minimum of information. The only people that have really been talking about what happened that day are people not directly involved in that family's every day life. I think it's pretty irresponsible to base all judgement of their parenting skills off of what we have so far. IMO, anyway.

sbm

That's exactly the point. The perp knows when she was last seen.
If they release that information then everyone will know.
If someone comes in and confesses but claims they did it at 10am... they will be able to rule them out.

Just like they don't release the cause of death.
Yes, the perp knows that... but it's how they can verify what the perp tells them later.

Things related to when/where/how the victim was killed are things that ONLY the perp knows.
LE likes to keep it that way until they make an arrest. :twocents:

That's strange. I know of men who have to pay child support for non-biological children because they were legally married to the mother at the time, thus considered legal fathers.

Maybe those kids didn't have a dad listed on the birth certificate?

I am so impressed! WS peeps are true detectives. All the ideas about the cooler, blue cloth. Yup, any of them make sense. Thanks!

I think we have enough ideas for the TP as possibilities of what could be the need to get TP.

What now?

Do they always say not to worry? Isolated incident?

If you look at the Josh Powell case, they knew so much. It seems enough to arrest him, but I guess it wasn't.

Since the Caylee case, I think LE is very thorough on what they do. No one wants that debacle again.

So we are awaiting the results of WS peeps who are going to test the theory of accident or on purpose for the body from the truck.

To me it is crazy they have the license plate of a red truck, but no news on that?

A van without hubcaps? That would seem easy to ID.

She could have been violated in a van. Where?

The window would be between 5- maybe 6:45. Then clean up and disposal.

A time when most people are home, in and out. Sounds like lots of activities in the community. Walkers. Runners. Etc

They also have a community pool. I am not sure where it's located, but my daughter has been swimming in it with her friend that lives on Babbling Brook. All I know is that it is in walking distance. I don't know how many streets the pool "belongs" to. There maybe other pools in the area as well, serving a different group of homes. Not sure. I need to look at an aerial map since daughter is not home and her friend is away on vacation.

I am saying this, because that would increase the foot traffic at certain times of the day. Later in the day I am not sure. Some would go later after work you'd think, but don't know. After 4 it may be rather quiet as far as pool use goes. It is Texas, though, and plenty hot at that time. Actually, hotter from 4 til dark imo.

I still see no reason that it cannot be stated what the last time was that she was seen.

If someone is confessing, there are plenty of other details that LE knows that they can ask the confessor in order to eliminate him or her.

The public has given lots of help in the past. The Unabomber was solved by the brother, for instance. Somer Thompson by former roommates of the perp. Mothers turned in their own children.

Anyway, here is the uncut version of MM speaking

I am a bit baffled by this. Maybe though, they just told him not to discuss "details"?

Or maybe they just want the "perp" to think they are clueless hoping "he" will think he's safe and maybe that confidence would lead a misstep or something?

Ok, as hubs will say, "try not to think so much!" LOL It's hard knowing so little and causes us to analyse every little thing.

RSBM and BBM If they had a missing child they may have went around the neighborhood asking to enter. This one is a bit backwards then many missing kids since we had a body then a report. The manner of death may not have been very messy so just looking in the home would not tell them anything. Many of the things they took from the family's home is stuff that many people have. A perp confident enough to take Alanna, kill her and dump her body all in daylight is IMO more then confident enough to let police in acting as if they did nothing wrong.

bbm, You know there is alot to be said about that. It really was fast, imo and very daring in day light.

I would love to hear more about Alanna and her travels in the neighborhood, I have read that she would play outside her home by herself, and there is a girl iirc that she would play with.

Seems to be so much evidence, tarp, black trash bag, grocery store bag, red tape, belt.

idk, just seems that with all that evidence that they would have something to go on. I guess it's possible the killer could have a clean record and their prints are not on file. The other thing is her clothes. For someone to dispose of the body while still day light at a intersection in a residential neighborhood as if to get rid of the evidence as soon as possible and keep her clothes just does not add up to me. jmo

I'm reminded of Breann Rodriguez. She was the little girl riding her bike outside with her brother. One of their neighbors, Shawn Morgan, father of 3, snatched her and her bike. He then suffocated her with a plastic bag. Didn't do anything else sexually or otherwise. He dumped her bike training wheels and participated in the searches for her. She has a thread here too on Websleuths.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/breeann-ro...charged-murder/story?id=14297243#.Ud2V19Lkua8

Yeah I mentioned her last week on this thread. Seems very similar so far.

Then let us hope that L E actually has a perp in their sights because it is impossible to believe someone so disturbed will not do this again.

The excess of the different bags and the tape. Way too much joy in this

im trying to catch up, forgive me if this hss been addressed. in mosft states, the legal husband is put on a birth certificate, regardless of the biological situation. fascinating court cases have popped up due to this( imo) bizarre law... so, i would assume that is the situation here.

Tx law, straight out of hubs law book:

If the parents are married, the husband's name will be placed on the birth certificate, unless he denies that he is the baby's biological father. But in Texas, if the parents are not married, no father's name appears on the birth certificate unless the baby's parents take steps to establish legal fatherhood. This is also called establishing paternity.

Thank you for this post, it makes more sense about the time.

He looks like he is completely devastated but was too polite to walk away from the reporters or not answer them.

Don't know if this has been stated anywhere. If she was not sexually assaulted, I think this might make LE think this was specific to just her, not a threat to others.
Sometimes people who are quite twisted in their thinking might think that they were saving her from her family life.

He seemed devastated to me as well... very emotional... like he just wanted to curl up and cry. :tears:
Alanna looked JUST like him. I am not surprised he was soft spoken. He reminds me of a family friend.

Something that has just now popped into my head. Mom and the kids went to camp the week before, and I read somewhere they came home one day because they missed the guys. What if another camper had taken a liking to Alanna and followed them to see where they lived?

ETA, I had that thought too in the beginning but had forgotten....
