If LE know, why are they not arresting the person? I am on absolute tenterhooks and have been afraid to do more than take my kids to day care and back.

Thanks. Do we know when that was?

Unfortunately he did not give a time. I noted it because he seemed to have some control over the situation as he let her go play.

I think perp/s may have selected child via atypical manner.

FBI billboard suggests to me that their net is wider.

Anyone ever seen similar wording on billboard this early on?:

I don't think LE does know. Another indication of this would be the billboards put up by the FBI even today.

Yes. I have lived int his state all my life. I also live in the same county. Billboards, fliers, alerts on highways, etc...they all have suspect(s.)

-The probably don't have a picture of the vehicle. it seems they were given a simple description. Red truck, green paint splatter.
-She was only in her underwear, they don't have a picture of her clothing that day...I assume.
-They might not know the last time she was seen. People might have an idea, but not sure. It doesn't seem her parents even know.

There are a couple of other vehicles they are looking at as well.

This is soooo easy nowadays. Either put pics of the vehicles from the surveillance cameras or get pics from the manufacturer and photoshop to their specs.

My daughter told me you can take a pic of a room in your house and paint it using a program. I imagine LE has better software than that.

As far as the clothing, get pics from the manufacturer or get artist's darwing.

As far as the time, there certainly must be a range of time. Some kind of idea so people can start reviewing before it gets so long that no one remembers a thing.

If I lived there I would be horrified, worrying about the safety of anyone. Ted Bundy did women and then started going younger. Maybe the perp will stick only with younger. Who knows?

I'm not saying this very well lol!!

She may have had post morten injuries prior to her body ending up where it did. How would anyone know that they were related to the placement in the street?

Some injuries may be determined to be the result of contact with the asphalt by the ME looking at the position of her body in the street. He/she will determine this by assessing impact velocity and somehow calculating the cushioning of the tarp.

It could be the sign company does this for free as a public service.

Local channel 5 (NBC affiliate) said billboard companies donated them.

Well, it's not so easy. I live in this county, and there aren't...as a rule...surveillance cameras near neighborhoods. Yes, their are programs you can draw trucks. My husband is a designer and can draw a truck in programs. The problem is, witnesses might not know anything besides "red truck." They might not be able to say brand, model, size, if it has a cab, etc. From all I've read, they really remember the green spot, not much about the actual model of truck.

Getting a manufacturer picture of her clothing would take knowing what clothing she was wearing. What brand. What size. What store they were bought at. That is all very difficult. My son has clothing, and I can't tell you what store we got the shirt he's wearing right now. I can't even tell you when. Which is also important, since clothing changes each season. Also, we buy most of our clothing second hand. His shirt could be from 10 years ago. Getting an artist's rendering of her clothing, would take the parents remembering their daughter's exact clothing. Perhaps, they can't. I can't for the life of me remember what my little wore yesterday. I only have one, and I stay at home!! They have a few children and some of them work. They could simply not remember her clothing. OR, LE might think it's not needed or important right now. Who knows!

I actually agree with you on time frame. I would think they have SOME idea, but don't have complete specifics. Still, they must have a reason for not releasing that...I would think.

The FBI and the Rangers are involved. Around here, when the Rangers are involved...that means it's SERIOUS business and they are throwing everything at this crime. I am confident they must have reasons for not releasing certain things.

This is a really horrible thought but is it possible that she was still alive in the back of the pickup and moving around trying to get free and that's why she fell out? And died shortly after due to the injuries/heat/suffocation?

In Texas, does a grand jury have to "hand down" an indictment in a felony murder case before a sicko is arrested?

Edit: Answer is "yes".
http://www.co.galveston.tx.us/distatty/answers.htm

How many times a month does the grand jury meet in Alanna's county?

Yes, I believe they said a company donated. That's typically the case. Still, the companies are told by LE what to put on there. I always see it noted "suspect(s)" on signs. I don't believe they write that knowing there is one or more then one suspect. It's just what they write.

I could totally be wrong, of course. I know in the past, the billboards have said that, and only one person was charged and convicted of the crime. It appears to be just standard, in my opinion.

One reason I have seen mentioned of why they don't use pictures to show people what exactly they are looking for is that they don't want to limit people to just one specific type of vehicle, or other exact thing. For example, if they picture a Ford truck, and it is a Chevy, maybe it won't get called in - that sort of thing. Leaving things to folks imagination will widen the amount of possible tips, at least that is the theory I guess.
