So something we can talk about, the piece of plastic on the road, although it may not be related.

Size?

With so little info, it is hard to discuss much since a lot is off limits as well.

Austin Sigg did his deed in a simlar neighborhood, but the houses seemed further apart.

We never did hear how he got Jessica into the car , did we?

He sure took a chance, but it worked for him. Here is seems more difficult. I see the oerp as one who lives in the neighborhood,

I don't think we did. There were no witnesses to it either. If Alanna was abducted by someone in a car, then in both cases, is it more likely that the abductor was able to convince the child to get in the car instead of physically forcing them into the car? It just seems that there would be more commotion, screaming, etc if they were actually grabbed and thrown in the car.

Thanks! I'm near Saginaw and have met one of the Dads (Karl) but didn't attend the funeral. I have been trying to figure out how to ask someone who went about the casket situation but don't want to seem like a creep.

Understandable :) Idk if she had an open casket.

Could they even have an open casket, considering how long she had been deceased prior to the funeral?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've halfway followed this case since I heard about it (I have family living very nearby where this happened) and I feel like the dumping was accidental.

From the images I've seen, the tarp was not concealing the body as if to protect it. I feel like if the perp wanted to tarp her for a specific reason - why not bind the tarp down like they did with her arms/legs?

It looks more to me as if the tarp was maybe loosely thrown around in order to conceal what was under it for transport. I live in DFW and I wouldn't second guess a truck or work van with tarps in the back, it's not uncommon.

I don't understand why there would be a difference otherwise. I can see tarp used to wrap/protect the body for burial/disposal/avoiding fluids/etc - but only if its truly wrapped and taped or folded together. I can also see throwing a tarp over everything in order to hide the body long enough to dump it. And that's what I see in this case. And if I'm correct, then why waste time to conceal anything if your true plan is to dump a body in the middle of a suburb? I think it was a hasty mistake.

:moo:

Sad all around though. Poor kid.

Some details of Austin Sigg's confession, semi-O/T. Disturbing but not excessively graphic (my perspective may be skewed by lots of crime reading, sorry if so).

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingn...eway-case-charges-against-austin-sigg-altered

The Jessica case sure was solved by giving the public info.

So somehow he was in a car and grabbed her. I don't know how he did it unless he had some kind of stuff on a rag. Hard to drive and grab. But, it would seem like a fairly busy time, but no one saw him.

I do not know why Alanna would be walking by the street, though. I wonder if she crossed the street?

Cars could back out of a driveway as Alanna is going by. It just makes more sense that she went to a home she has gone to before or she was lured into the home somehow,

The perp could have been out in the yard and lured her.

The problem is that children do not know how to discriminate a stranger, The letter carrier may not be considered a stranger because the child sees him/her in the neighborhood all of the time. A cashier at the grocery store may not be considered to be a stranger.

Adults have a hard time discriminating people who may be choosing to cause them harm.

We have gone over the tarp issue. I believe that the tarp was secured with a belt.

I think, but do not know, that the tarp was unsecured by those who found it.

There is a lot of discussion on this on this very thread.

There is also discussion of whether a body can fall out of a truck.

I even googled it. It does not appear to be something that could happen.

We had a discussion of inertia where things keep the same motion. When the truck stopped at the sign, if the body moved, it would be forward.

My husband says that there is not a production vehicle ( that is a vehicle that is mass produced)' that can take off fast enough to have a body slide out

On the previous thread, a generous WS member tried this very experiment and discovered that it was highly unlikely that a body could fall out,

If you google , there are sites that tell you how to properly secure a load.

They are based on objects flying out because of weight or something like a mattress that can become air borne because of wind.

Or things that are too long or unstable.

But, you will have to look up the physics of it all yourself to see what you believe can be possible,

Maybe it's just me, but I would not have an open casket. I would not want curious people gawking at my murdered child. Personally, I don't think open vs. closed casket tells anything about cause of death.

Question for more experienced sleuthers...

On the assumption that the Opal and Allana cases were connected, would there be a way of discovering whether one of the RSOs lived in the area 14 years ago and lives there now but with a sizeable hiatus in the middle (possibly due to a jail term)? So, basically looking for an RSO who moved into the area in recent years, but it turned out was also in the area 14 years ago (possibly prior to being registered as an RSO).

Perhaps an easier way would be to find out any RSO with this type of history who've been let out in the last year and specifically I'd be looking at who's been let out in the last 6 months.

I don't think the perp is registered. It may be someone who is now middle aged- who left the area for school/work, and has now moved back to care for aging parents, or to deal with a funeral/estate/ nursing home for a parent. It could be someone who has moved back "home" due to the economy.

Not me, but I do remember Mr. Yuck from my 70s childhood. (anyone? Mr. Yuck is mean...Mr. Yuck is green....Mr.Yuck who warns you what/where is poison?)

But seriously, I hadn't heard of this. But my 70's-80's childhood was in WI, KS, KY, and OH. Was there some way the "P Parents" registered/were background checked by LE before getting their "P" endorsement?

I'm just imagining a "P Predator" putting one of these stickers in his window to lure kids. Ugh!

Mr Yuck! Yes, I was obsessed with the stickers when I was a kid, and then totally forgot about them until a few weeks ago I saw a pamphlet or sign or something at my pharmacy with his bright green face! (An '80s kid here.)

Agreed, closed wouldn't rule anything out. Just thought if open, that would mean no strangulation, trauma to head etc. I don't totally trust LE about what they have ruled out.
I've become a bit obsessed with this case.My brother in law was friends with Amber Hagerman, then Opal Jennings was right after I moved here. Now this with it being an acquaintance's daughter and the info someone posted earlier about the 2 brunette girls in Tyler years before. I have a 4 year old girl who is thankfully blonde but am worried they are all connected somehow.
Also a bit of an OCD streak and an interest in forensics, so.. Yeah. Been reading everything I can find!

Ah...I see what you mean about being open and possibly ruling out certain traumatic causes of death. Good point!

warning: graphic

Jorelys Rivera had severe trauma to the face and head, was put in a dumpster, after death, which was run (by her murderer), and not found until about 72 hours later.... and her parents still had an open casket. From what I understand, there was a lot of work from the mortician, and a veil draped over the casket. I don't think they were able to make her face look like she normally looked in life, but it was apparently important for her family, culturally, I think, to have an open casket, so they did. She was also stabbed numerous times (and sexually assaulted) but obviously you wouldn't be able to tell she was stabbed with an open casket. So ... blunt force trauma/bludgeoning to the head doesn't always mean closed casket. :twocents::seeya:

Does anyone remember little Ashley Estell? She was an adorable 7 year old brunette girl. She was abducted from a Plano soccer complex. I think it was a few years before Amber Hagerman. I remember her so vividly. My sister was playing at the same complex in a tournament that weekend, and they helped look for her that day. She was found the next day, 6 miles away from the fields. I remember my mom coming home, hugging me and sobbing.

That's only a 45 min- hour drive from Saginaw. Her killer has never been found, a sex offender was exonerated from his conviction.

If you look for her picture (I don't know how to add one here) she is very similar to the other girls. Kind of makes me wonder...

Thank you, for posting that. Such a precious girl.

I've always remembered her face. The impact on my parents was profound, so it really effected me as well.

It is possible a killer is doing all of these little kids, although it is one of the most popular ages for pervs.

BTK had no signs pointing to him and he was doing it for how many years?

And then there was a time oeriod he did not, is that correct?

If so, why did he not do it for a time period?

Hard to figure out pervs. He sure did not fit a profile I would decide upon. Married, children, church.

But, there were signs such as control freak or something?
