Has anyone sleuthed any missing person or attempted abduction cases that involve a red truck? It is unbelievable how many there are, omg!

Has anyone methodically google walked the streets of Saginaw and outlying areas for red trucks? It can't hurt.

We could make a list of streets and everyone take one to walk or something....I am thinking a larger perimeter than just 1 or 2 surrounding streets.

I was just reviewing a few articles and ran across this one dated July 9. The discussion was centered on the items seized with the SW:

"[Saginaw Police Chief Roger Macon] said most of the evidence is still being analyzed by the medical examiner.

Other evidence may be sent to the FBI lab, which has a significant backlog from other major crimes around the world.

“As I stated to a concerned resident earlier this morning, what we see in TV police shows is not the way trace evidence works in real life,” Macon said.

“The crime lab does not produce results in minutes or hours, but rather in days, weeks and months. We do not expect to see ... any comparative results in less than two weeks, which leaves old-fashioned police work as our primary resource at this time.”"

BBM. If that is the case, we still have at least a few days before we might expect to hear anything about any of the forensic evidence or the items seized in the search. But, yes, I also find it incredibly frustrating that they haven't said more and provided some of the information they clearly have (such as the outfit she was last known wearing, though I know that is in the scanner thread).

I have not, but IIRC, there was a red truck right (but this one had a cap over the bed) near the address of the shooting that happened a few days ago in that neighborhood. Note that you get to see different cars in the satellite shot and the street view.

I think this case would be playing out much differently if Alanna was missing. I think LE would be communicating more with the public, possibly holding daily press conferences. The parents would also be talking to the media, and if they weren't, there would be a lot of criticism about it. I think that when a child is found dead, there seems to be less of a "demand" or "need" to hear from the parents. It's like, they can talk when they are able to.

Also, The Fort Worth Star has written 7 articles about Alanna in the past two weeks. They wrote 65 articles about Amber Hagerman in the first two weeks of her case. Amber's body was found only a few days after she went missing. I don't really get why there's such a huge disparity between the two cases. I was pretty shocked by the difference in the number of articles.

The only explanation I can come up with for the disparity in coverage is that for the first several days Amber was a missing child. There was someone who had just been with her (brother), another witness (Joe Kevil) who said he saw her in the grocery store parking lot alone and gave the description of the truck/person that snatched her (not to jump down another rabbit hole, but some suspect him as well). Anyhoo.....in the meantime a truck is reported at a Laundromat matching the description, but police can't find it, and then four days from the day she went missing her body was found. The autopsy was able to conclude that she had only died two days previously, so she was held alive for two days - and also sexually assaulted during that time. So, I'm guessing that there was lots more info developing almost daily to be reported, people to interview, etc.....

I think the problem here is that no news = no news.

I also think that since Amber was missing first, the community searched for her, prayed that they would find her alive, and got to know her and her family, before her body was found. We've had locals come on here, and say there isn't much concern about this case in Saginaw. On the other hand, articles about Amber talk about how people wanted laws change, talk about RSO's, what the schools were doing, how to protect your kids, etc. It reminds me a lot of the response I saw after Jessica Ridgeway, Samantha Runnion, Jessica Lunsford...all children who were abducted and later found murdered.

In terms of men's belts, I was recalling having trouble buying a belt for DH.

This site: http://www.beltmastersdirect.com/belt-size-chart/ says something similar to what I recall.

"Belts should typically be two to three sizes bigger than your pants. If your pant size is 32”, then a 34”-36” belt will fit well."

So, my hubby who wears a 38 pants actually wears a 42 belt. So, a men's belt in 38-44 would be a large to XL guy I think.

OT the excessive slow WS load time is Zimmerman related I am sure. Same thing happened at the end of the Arias trial. Tons of newbs and guests on at one time. Hopefully it'll right itself in a day ! :) mooo of course

A sense of urgency and outrage does seem lacking in this case.

It can certainly seem that way, since we are not on the inside. The FBI and Rangers are involved. They don't get involved, unless there IS a sense of urgency. There is always a reason for not releasing information to the public, and it's usually a good reason. I don't think we should assume they are working day and night, just because we don't have information...ya know? JMO.

I think the reason, too often, that information is not released to the public is because they either don't trust the public, or don't have the information to release.

I don't know who said there was little concern, but its all I've heard/ talked about. My friends and I have little kids and are terribly concerned. There are purple ribbons up everywhere and 2 candlelight vigils were held last week.

Why a belt, that size?

I understand she was found with one, so why are they looking for more?

Could belts have been used as "restraints"? If so we're looking for someone with a LOT of belts...a shop? Most men would only own one belt :moo:

:dunno:

So sorry. I can only imagine what you are going thru. They will more than likely have an arrest soon imo.
Keep your children close.....

I think this perception comes from earlier threads where some of us other DFW folks didn't feel like it was getting the same level of attention outside of the immediate area. For example, someone (sorry, can't remember) said none of the other moms in her play date group seemed to be very aware or concerned, etc....it gets a blip if any coverage at all on local news, etc....

I think w/out the latter (news coverage), the concern will stay more local. But, in defense of the media, they aren't being given much to report. At a certain point they'd probably just sound like a bunch of armchair detectives rehashing vague, unverified details and bouncing around theories 24/7.......and who wants to do that?

;)

Do we know if it was a mans or womans belt?
Also in the sw wanting pants and belts in particular sizes it didnt specify if they wanted mens or womens specifically.
Im not looking at the search warrant but thats what my memory tells me.
imo

Yes, I have - and I made a list of addresses as well (I think this was on the second day after it happened and they mentioned the truck).

This was in relation to the immediate area - over to the public school, there are 50+ addresses with a red truck parked and 2 red trucks in transit (that I found).

But there are 2 problems with that. Not all trucks are out of their garages - it is a snapshot in time. I had to streetview every truck for the actual location.

Those trucks parked on the street may not belong to the house it is in front of, or the house occupant.

But I have them if anyone is interested. Im not sure Im allowed to post all the addresses.

There was a couple of ToI's (Trucks of Interest) which I marked as fitting the description.

The search warrant asked specifically for men's clothing and belts. The belts that were seized did not specify if they were men's or women's.

There is a Bridal Trl and a Bridle Trl, both in Saginaw. Bridle is close to where she was found.

I think I spelled it wrong, it was Bridle trail. It connects to Alanna's street of Babbling Brook.

Lots of construction just a few blocks away connecting the two parts of Boaz.

Thank you. I stand corrected. Men's clothing and belts on the sw.

I am glad to hear that. There were some posts by locals who said they knew people in Saginaw and there wasn't much concern....

Is there consensus about what happened to Alanna or does everyone's theory vary? Do people think LE knows who did it?
