I can't find the article link for the two girls abducted in Tyler in 1989/ 1992 or 3 but I would love to see those two in the picture lineup with Amber, Ashely, Opal and Alanna.

With the hot tub water sample being taken, I think it could be DNA was destroyed by bleach? Or partially destroyed.
It keeps the child out in the face of the public. Somer Thompson was solved by the public. Who else?
And, if it was your child, would you want her forgotten so quickly?
And LE has a responsibility for public safety.

I posted about this on the previous threads. If the perp was alone, he would have to stop at the intersection, look around to see if anyone is about, lean over, open the passenger side door, try and get the body wrapped up out of the vehicle, shut the door again and then drive off.... all with no one seeing. It's possible, but I just can't see it, it's too risky and too cumbersome for this to have happened. A second perp would have made it much easier.
But I'm still going with my idea of Alanna's wrapped up body being strapped to the roof of a vehicle with roof restraints. One of these restraints came loose or snapped causing her body to roll off the vehicle when it went around the corner. The perp panicked and fled leaving Alanna where the teens later found her. This could be the reason LE took all types of restraints from the family home, and the perp may have felt it was less risky having the body on the roof of his vehicle due to there being less chance of traces of DNA, fibres etc being left, than if the body was inside the vehicle or in the trunk.
In this particular situation, I completely understand. At one point in this thread, mods were having to step in over petty nastiness like the parents' weight every couple of hours, not mentioning some of the more legitimately unusual stuff.
I suppose I'm also not sure that parents' public pleas ever help crack a case, but I'd certainly be happy to be demonstrated to be wrong. Otherwise, I don't think they owe us anything.
Also, adding to why there's been little media coverage -- as far as I can recall, I don't remember parents of an abducted/murdered child ever being so quiet. A lot of times, interviews with parents will fuel continued coverage, but other than the two statements released by the fathers, there's been nothing from the family.
I'm not familiar with the Somer Thomspon case. I hit Wikipedia, it mentions public outrage at the suspect being released, but makes it sound like the case was solved by DNA.
If it was my child who was dead, I can honestly say I would be too busy being devastated to care what strangers on the Internet thought or whether they "forgot" her. Now, if the argument is that public/media pressure is the only thing motivating LE to do their job, I can see the argument of getting some NG time.
Finally, I assume the "99.99% of child murders are perpetrated by family" statistic must be at least somewhat specious, or else people wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic about blaming parents (in general) for letting their kids play outdoors. Can't have that one both ways. (I know it's very high but I also know it's not 99.99%, and I suspect that other factors come into play, such as single parent/broken home/custodial dispute/drug abuse/history of abuse, etc.)
Ok- I'm going to try to put them all in one post- Megan, Jenna, Ashley, Amber, Opal, Alanna.
