I'll look for LDhummingbirds post but she said that LG was wary of calling the police earlier because she wasn't sure if they would take it seriously, unsure of the 24 hour rule.

I get it.....the mom thought she had to wait 24 hours before reporting a missing child.....

Do you know how often people have been asking about the 2 PM siting?

This reference needs to be placed somewhere safe so we can access it when the question is asked.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I mentioned 2 pm and was corrected..thanks for the link !! :seeya:

Seriously? If the body were not found, she would have waited until the next day to report a six year old missing?

I have another nagging question.

What Alanna was reported to have been wearing when she went missing obviously ....she wasn't wearing it when she was found.

Why hasn't the issue of her clothing come up? Has LE recovered it? I think it's odd LE doesn't appear to have looked for it or asked others to keep an eye out for it. Odd... Very odd.

If they has searched the trash truck for instance, perhaps they would have found her clothes inside a trash bag filled with discarded mail or other type items linking them to an address. Find the address and they find the first crime scene.

This has not been released by family, LE or MSM. However, it is in the scanner thread. Please don't bring it upstairs...

Child sex murders usually fall into two distinct groups, imo - those who plan for it, and those who take advantage of an opportunity.

The timing of Alanna disappearing, where she disappeared, the randomness of using belts and tape - all suggests opportunity.

I don't think any of this was planned. I don't think the perp was a serial who got up one day and went hunting.

I think it was someone Alanna felt vaguely familiar with, even if it was someone's visiting son/nephew/plumber, that she found at home instead of who she'd come to visit.

For these reasons I hope for an arrest very soon, in fact I bet they've got a list of potentials, however if the perp has no history, all the DNA in the world isn't going to help LE identify him/her.

The relative may also be covering for the perp, or may not even know the perp visited that day as they were out at the time. Endless scenarios fit.

Maybe it will end up a case of trailing him until he drops a cigarette butt...! As someone mentioned earlier.

:moo:

LE purposely keep details quiet to weed out false confessions.

Perhaps they found her clothing, they just don't want to disclose that for now.

Dear LE:

You are obviously stumped and at a standstill. Please register on Websleuths and become members and let us help you!!

(We are an amazing bunch).

I don't think the FBI has to register. I'm sure they have it covered. Hopefully. Sometimes, when they are really, really quiet, they have the case all wrapped up and are waiting for those DNA bows. JMO

:please:

if they have...where did they recover the clothes from?

Recovering the clothing would be a HUGE piece of the puzzle. IMO

The 2:00 sighting seems odd to me. LDh said she was at home folding laundry when they left at noon. MM says in interview that he let her go to a friends house at 4:00.

Maybe she went out for a while and then returned home asking to go to another friends house.

THAT'S IT...THAT'S THE HOLE in part of the timeline.

12noon Alana is folding clothes.
12noon her mom and friend leave.
12noon ish according to shadows in car pics, cars are seen lingering.
2pm ish friend's grandmother sees Alanna.
.??????
4pm dad says Alanna asks to go play.
Approx 4pm mom returns home.
7pm ish the body is found.....appox a mile from homel

Thinking out loud cause this little girls murderer needs to be found! Imo

I don't know...maybe in another trash bin a mile away?

One thing we know for sure, the rubbish hadn't been collected yet, so they may well have recovered it the first day.

Our neighbor's kids are screamers. I mean seriously they SCREAM like their leg is caught in the lawn mower.

Sadly, this is where the story, 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' came from.

I've been tempted to purchase a nice copy and leave it in their mail box...but I digress...

Seeing other people's kids will make you appreciate your own.

Bahahahaa omg! Made me laugh out loud. My kids are grown, married, engaged and live on their own. For the first time in over 25 years my dh and I are alone. The first weekend after school ended in June....we were sleeping in....how nice...

At 9am we were wakened by bloodcurdling screams. I jumped out of bed , certain that someone was dying. The child across the street was screaming because he brother TOUCHED HER BIKE. :banghead:
She hasn't stopped screaming ....all day everyday.

Someone mentioned a small area with lots of trees along Woodcrest. But that's not really a dark tree area. It's actually an open lot. There are trees around it, but you can pretty much see all over the lot. Right now there are giant hay bales all over the place.

<respectfully snipped by me>

I'm a bit behind in the thread, so maybe someone has asked already, but: Do you know when the hay was cut/baled, by any chance?

The parents are obviously highly intelligent people. Since child abductions are rare that was probably not the first place their mind went. Talking about the what "ifs" now is only adding insult to injury and that's very hurtful for the family. There's already enough of that going on in social media elsewhere. What does it accomplish?

  • #834
At nine, it was probably just dark...surely they would have called 911 then, if they had not seen police.

  • #835
I don't care if I had an inkling that LE would tell me I had to wait 24 hours... that would NOT stop me from begging them for help as soon as I realized my child was missing.

All MOO and not directed at anyone:

My take on the statement was that she didn't feel it would be taken seriously. Because at the time they went to look for her she had been gone for a few hours but was thought to have been at a friends house the entire time. Once they realized she wasn't where she was supposed to be they started going to other neighbors/friends to see if she were there instead. During that KG saw the two police cars and spoke to them about his daughter. We know the rest from MSM. I do believe once they had spoken to everyone they knew who knew their daughter they would have reported it. I don't think it occurred to them that something horrible had happened. I really wish this aspect of the case would stop coming up. Hindsight is 20/20. If she had gone to said friends house on a regular basis and had stayed over for a few hours every time and was the norm, why is it so hard to believe that they thought nothing of it for her to be gone a few hours since they believed her to be at said house? MOO I just feel like this is one of those things that people in general get their sights on and "beat a dead horse". Putting all of the responsibility of her disappearance and death on the parents and their parenting and actions of that day IMO is a form of victim blaming. No one knows for certain what they would do given the same circumstances. No one but those involved even know what did or did not happen.

ALL parents need to reflect and learn from these situations. That's what reflecting and contemplating accomplishes. No one is spewing hatred here. I see a lot of questioning certain aspects of her freedom, and the search for her. In my opinion, as a parent, that is an entirely appropriate thought process. To question and think about what I would or should do... if it happened to me. JMO.

On Wed I plan on setting up my tripod with my camera facing out the window to take pictures every 30 minutes to see how the shadow moves. Hope the clouds , sun , and my kiddos work with me. The tripod will be set up in the playroom so I hope I do not get many selfies from my weirdos.
