HOUSTON -- A man was shot several times and run off the road in southeast Houston Friday, and his neighbor heard it all over the phone, police told KPRC Local 2.
Officials said Alex Morales, 22, called his neighbor and said a truck was trying to drive him off the road on Almeda Genoa near the Gulf Freeway at about 1 a.m. Moments later, the neighbor heard gunshots before the phone went dead.
Morales crashed into a ditch and died en route to a hospital. He had been shot in the head.
The gunman escaped.
