Police Search for Missing Couple

Grand Prairie and Dallas Police are searching for a missing couple. Mark Beseda with the Grand Prairie Police Department says the family of Weltzin Garcia and Alfonso Hernandez reported them missing at around 5:00 am Tuesday.

Hernandez’s vehicle, a 2009 black, two-door Honda Accord, has been found parked at White Rock Lake, but the couple is still missing. According to authorities, a warrant for Hernandez was issued several weeks ago in connection to an assault involving Weltzin.

The couple’s two small children are with Weltzin’s sister.

‘Dead Or Alive Just Tell Us Something’: Family Of Missing Mother Pleads To Man Accused Of Taking Her

Family members are searching for a North Texas mother of two and a man who they believe may be responsible for her disappearance.

The search brought them to White Rock Lake Wednesday morning where they were joined by Dallas police.

[...]

Garcia’s twin sister told CBS 11 there had been a domestic dispute between the two where Hernandez allegedly hit Garcia a few weeks ago, leading to a restraining order against him. According to police, the department had issued an arrest warrant to Hernandez for an alleged assault just days before the couple vanished.

Atziry Garcia believes her sister is in danger. The couple’s car and some of their belongings were found by Dallas police near White Rock Lake, which led to a search in the area. The search was focused on a wooded area near the lake where officers and a K-9 unit investigated.

“Alfonso, if you have my sister, please bring her back. If you don’t wanna go back with your family, it’s fine. But I’m sure my sister wants to get back with her kids. Please just bring my sister back… Alive or dead, just tell us something. We just want to know… Just need an answer for your kids,” said Atziry Garcia.

The sister said Hernandez had sent his family a “goodbye” text on Tuesday.

So worried for this young mom. So many questions. Why was car abandoned? Could someone have picked them up? Do they both still have their phones? I'm assuming no credit cards have been used. When was the arrest warrant issued?

Imo he could be really desperate with the arrest warrant out. Praying for the best. Very sad that children are without their mom again tonight.

MOO.

Police searching for missing Grand Prairie couple

I live within a mile of this lake. It is an inner city lake surrounded by densely populated SFH neighborhoods about 9 miles around. Very highly-travelled with lots of runners, cyclists, rowers, sailboaters, dog-walkers, patrol officers etc. It's possible but unlikely they are at the lake.

The distance from Grand Prairie to White Rock Lake is 20-25 miles. Plenty more remote places, including lakes, on the way to conduct a crime.

If you look at the video from the news link the car looks spotted/wet. Hard to tell what exactly that is.

Watched CBS 11 news update at 4:00. Not a lot new. Did report the police have not confirmed foul play but are treating the disappearance as a criminal investigation.

Dallas: Intensified search by Weltzin García and Alfonso Hernández
The Dallas and Grand Prairie police departments collaborate to find traces that can lead to the couple's whereabouts.

The couple's whereabouts are unknown since they left their home in Grand Prairie without explanation on Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. The city's police department (GPPD) confirmed that there is an arrest warrant for Hernandez.

On Thursday, Atzity said they are still tracking their sister's phone.

"Her cell phone is still giving the location that is in this area," said Atziry García Mireles, Weltzin's twin sister, during an interview with Telemundo 39 .

"My sister's phone took it with her, or he possibly ... But the phone is giving [signals] that it's in this area. That's why we're looking for a lot here, "he added.
