Found Deceased TX - Ali Burress, 28, Lamar County, 29 June 2015

  • #21
I found this from July 1 on Google. Also found a couple of other things on Google that I'm not sure I am allowed to post.

"The search for 28-year-old Ali Burress of Paris, missing since early Monday, continues but the emphasis on the immediate area where her car was found in southern Lamar County has been discontinued."

ETA: Dang I am behind. I just saw an update up thread dated July 8. Duh.... Sorry :blushing:

From the above link from Kimbeq

“We fear the worst,” said Lamar County Sheriff’s Officer Joe Tuttle, after the length of time she has been missing. “There were no personal belongings left in her car – no purse or cell phone. We have followed up on every lead and have heard nothing from any of her family or friends. Until we receive any new leads we are just discombobulated.

He reported she was on her phone for approximately one hour early that morning, and they used the ping off the tower from the phone to help locate her with the GPS tracking technology law enforcement has. Officer Tuttle said the damage to the car was minor, no air bags deployed.

She has a bit of an interesting record, though nothing too recent.

Is this one of the Google things that you found? I think we are allowed to ask if this could be her? If so, trial had been scheduled for Sept. 15:

IF it's her, that info puts a little different spin on my thoughts.

I did not see this. I think her association with alleged murderers is most concerning here. Do you agree?

Oh yeah, that article made me think more about the company she was keeping, for sure. And that info about the upcoming trial leads to different scenarios too.

Right now I agree with the sheriff's thoughts in trigger's post #23 above - I "fear the worst", too. But the tiny ray of hope I still have thinks maybe things just got too "hot" before trial and she's in hiding somewhere.

There was another case on her maybe 18 months ago that share some similarities.

For some reason I think the young woman was a little younger.

In her case it was a trial (may also have been murder - and I think she was in Canada or Alaska) for her father she was about to have to testify.

My recollection is she just turned up not long after the trial, but I can't remember who it is, and search hates me so I can't be sure.

Either way, hoping Ali is found safe and she didn't become another victim.

Here is a map I made up of the approx. location her car was found.

It looks like it would be an easy area to search, which may just add to the mystery.

Of course, we all know how those darn "exhaustive searches" go when conducted by LE.

I imagine they will find her within 50 feet of where her car was found.......sooner or later.

There does seem to be something about this which seems somewhat staged, but if she wanted to vanish without a trace, why call 911 ? She could have simply parked her car where it was found and run off with whomever.

Since the murder trial already occurred, is the trial scheduled for Sept of '15 the trial against the deputy who strip searched Ali? I'm confused by that reference at the end of the article.

Yes, and this might help explain what happened previously:

I'm not too good with all the legal terms, but I see at the end that only this part remained for the trial in September:

Only Plaintiff's Section 1983 claims against Blake individually for violation of her First Amendment right to be present in the courtroom and her Fourth Amendment right to be free from an illegal seizure of her person, as well as any corresponding request for injunctive relief, remain.

It's been one year since Ali disappeared. I was just listening to the audio of the police and the 911 operator or dispatcher who was on the phone with Ali, and they mention her phone pinging near Robertson creek. When I search that on a map it shows up near where her car was found on County Road 14850.

So, I wonder if she didn't wander into the creek. The dispatcher said she was pretty out of it - that she couldn't remember if she had been driving or someone else, that she thought her husband may have been in the car with her but that they had had a fight and she also thought maybe he had gotten out. Apparently he had gotten out as the police had picked him up two hours before her 911 call walking along highway 271 and taken him to an address in Parix, TX. I don't know that he's really her husband or if he was her boyfriend. He doesn't seem to really be leading the search in trying to find her.

The dispatcher also said that she said she was in a corn field, out of the car and walking, but then later that she was waiting at the car for the police to find her. Ali reported that her car was "totaled" and undrivable but also said that after the wreck she had driven her car around in the field but couldn't find a way out. The reports of the crash make it sound rather minor, without any airbag deployment and yet when you listen to the audio it sounds as though she did have a head injury. Near the end of the audio Ali says she could see two towers with blinking red lights about two football fields away and asks if she should start walking towards them and the police tell the dispatcher to tell her no, to stay with her car. Once her phone went dead and she lost contact with 911 perhaps she started walking and that's when she ended up in the creek or some other water. I just find it hard to believe that if she died in a corn field that her body hasn't been found by this time.

I'm fascinated that she was involved in a lawsuit against the Paris police department at the same time she went missing and the Lamar County sheriff's office was searching for her. It looks like that lawsuit is still pending and may actually go to trial - although that seems difficult given that the plaintiff is missing. I need to look into that case more tomorrow.
