On March 16, 2017 theLamar County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a resident in the southern part of Lamar County near Lamar County Road 14760 in regards to finding human remains on his property.

The human remains were sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification where a Forensic Anthropologist and a Forensic Odonatologist positively identified through DNA and dental records that the remains were that of Ali Burris.

Ali's case reminds me a lot of the Brandon Lawson case, he too called 911.

I'd love to see where her remains were found in relation to where her car was found.

I am a big fan of SAR and LE in general, so I really dislike being critical from my chair here, however way too many injured people that leave their vehicles after an accident aren't found until months and maybe years after. And not too far from scene. In many of these cases death may have been slow. It would be awesome if they could come up with a new search model as so often these people aren't found in time.

I don't mean to critique these awesome people, it's not their fault. They are working within an established model I guess.

I've been off the boards for quite a while and am sad to see this news. They say there was no evidence of foul play but also they couldn't determine the cause of death.

I used to work as a Park Ranger, and I cannot tell you how many calls I received for assistance for someone who was lost, etc. I would tell the subject to stay exactly where they are, but in EVERY case as soon as I'd head out to look for them (and I knew the 2,000 acres of my patrol area like the back of my hand) they'd venture off on their own. As a result, it'd take me 4 times as long to find them. SMH... It used to drive me crazy because usually from the description of the area where the subject was lost was enough for me to know where they were; but because they wouldn't stay put, a call that would take an hour would then have me searching for the next 3 hours, and often I'd have to get out the drone or my night vision equipment - sometimes having to initiate a SAR. If you're lost stay in one place! If you have your vehicle you can utilize so many parts of it for your survival...
