Caren And Alejia James

Although police haven’t identified the Alvin woman or named her son, a neighbor, who requested her name be withheld from publication, said on Wednesday afternoon that she knows Mullis, the infant and his mother.

She spoke briefly but gently and kindly of the family and provided a photograph of the woman and boy she said are named Caren and Alejia James, respectively.

About the baby wearing only a diaper. Has it been said by the mother that that's how he left the house? My first thought was the baby was undressed when he was being left to help cover up his identity.

I was just thinking this too...she said he left to work on a car and took baby with him IIRC...what is the climate there at this time? Think she was involved??

So what people here are saying is that the baby may have been dead when they left the house....we know that baby wasn't injured and they were seeking treatment when dad left the house because Mom would have gone. Baby had a completely clean diaper, at least that is what is reported. Baby had an obvious head injury...hmmm. I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that the child went for the ride with dad...he was probably not sleeping through the night and perhaps dad was giving mom a rest after an early feeding. Maybe dad had him in the front seat in his car seat and the airbag went off...any early morning fender benders in the area??? I guess I want to avoid the thought that mom could be involved...that baby was so sweet looking.

The article I read (I think it was on CNN or Fox) stated that the "father" and baby left early - around 5 - 5:30 am) and he took very little provisions for the baby... that's why the mother started calling all around when they didn't return to the home.

I'm not sure what to think of this story yet.

Why was the father leaving the house at 5 or 5:30 AM to have his car repaired? Do car repair places open that early? None that I'm aware of. Why would mom let dad leave with a 3 month old that was only wearing a diaper and had no "provisions"? :waitasec:

I'm not passing judgement on the mother yet, but I think there may be more to this story.

Then again, if the mother were involved - why would she call authorities after the baby was found indentifying herself?

I'm starting to get that "ICK FACTOR" where the mom's concerned, hope I'm wrong., 5:-5:30 am it's really fricking cold! This baby's only in diaper, & no bottles, extra diapers, change of clothes or baby food? WTH, I couldn't go anywhere without taking a diaper bag full of stuff! Somethings not right IMO.

The baby may have been dressed but was left undressed to make identification harder. After all, Baby Grace was partially identified by the clothing she was found in and that case was in the same area.

I think the mother phoned LE, and reported father left with baby in morning and she hadn't heard from him. Perhaps she heard news report regarding baby found and became concerned?

This story is just so sad!! That poor sweet little guy. I have a funny feeling about the mom too. Why would he have left the house at 5 in the morning to get the car fixed? Nothing is open at that hour. Also didn't one of the articles say they were fighting before he left? Maybe he just grabbed the baby and stormed out of the house.

You're right SewingDeb! I thought she had contacted the police herself, but from reports she was calling hospitals.

Yes I heard she was calling hospitals and the one hospital called the police and told them a mother had called looking for her baby.

I too think mom knows more than has been reported so far.

They were reportedly arguing the night before but things had cooled down before morning. That's in one of the links.

They lived with another couple...maybe they can shed some light on this.

Not only does my heart break for this poor baby, but the people of Galveston as well. The island isn't that big and for two children to be found dead within months of each other has got to be hard for that community/LE to take.

Maybe he was supposed to take the car to a buddy's to get fixed; before the "buddy" had to go into work? Just a thought. I remember being that age, and not being able to afford a "real place" to fix my junker cars. I had the boyfriend of a classmate do it for me, only he always had to work on my car at odd hours. (Times which wouldn't conflict with his "real job".)

yeah but where was he taking the baby that early in the morning? No mention of day care or a baby sitter! Was he just taking the boy "for a ride"? Why?
And why so early in the morning? and she let him take the boy.
