Abandoned Newborn's Mother Faces Attempted Murder Charge

The mother of a newborn baby boy found abandoned inside a plastic bag at the bottom of a dumpster (MAP) last month is behind bars, charged with attempted capital murder.

Hurst police said Alyssa Hazel Baker, 28, was arrested at about 7 p.m. Saturday, nearly one month to the day after officers found her newborn baby boy in the trash behind the restaurant where she worked.

Medics arrived and treated the woman while police searched for the infant. The baby boy was found awake and crying by police, although he was inside a plastic garbage bag at the bottom of the dumpster.

The affidavit, which was released on Monday afternoon, explains what allegedly occurred on the morning of June 15, inside the bathroom of Souper Salad, in the 900 block of Melbourne Road.

Baker is currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Woman Arrested After Infant Is Left In Dumpster In Hurst | Coppell, TX Patch

An investigator obtained a warrant and searched Baker's phone. According to the report, searches were found including "Early Abortion Options — Our Bodies Ourselves," "What happens to the baby if a pregnant mother does not eat properly," "Top 23 natural home remedies for abortion to end a pregnancy" and "18 Natural abortion methods for early termination of pregnancy," along with several others.

Among the other searches were "miscarriage" and "taking abortion pills." The investigator also noted a June 15 search for "Baby found alive in dumpster near Hurst strip mall-story" and "how many newborns are discarded in the US."

When did adoption become a thing to avoid? Jesus, it's your job to not get pregnant if you don't want too and its your job to deal with it if you do. And leaving your baby in a dumpster is not what I mean by dealing with it.
