Howard County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are requesting assistance in locating Amanda Lynn Bates, who has been missing since September 12, 2024.
Amanda was last seen in the Knott/Big
Spring area. Her current whereabouts are unknown, and there is concern for her welfare.
Anyone with information regarding her location or who last saw her is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.

Bates has been described as Hispanic with brown eyes and brown hair. Her height has been recorded as 5 feet, 2 inches , and she weighs approximately 185 pounds. As far as physical characteristics, she is said to have an angel wing tattoo on her right hand. Another crown tattoo adorns her left hand, while a purple rose tattoo is located on her left back shoulder. A red star tattoo sits on her left arm.

An arrest was made Tuesday in connection with the killing of a Howard County woman who had been missing since September 2024.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said 31-year-old Andreas Perches was arrested in connection with the death of Amanda Bates, 39, who was last seen in Howard County.
Officials said the arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.

Perches is facing charges of first-degree felony murder and failure to meet sex offender registration requirements, a third-degree felony. He is being held at Howard County Jail on a bond of $1 million.

Amanda Lynn Bates was reportedly last seen in the Big Spring area on Sept. 12, 2024.
Recently, in March, both agencies released a statement looking to the public for any information about Bates’ disappearance. Authorities had stated that her whereabouts were unknown and there was reason to be concerned about her welfare.
The case remains under investigation by the DPS and the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.

The POI is a registered sex offender. I wonder what their relationship was. Someone she knew? A stranger? They've not released much in the way of details. The Sex Offender Registry does show him with a last address as incarcerated in Big Springs TX. I think I have a possible link between them. Amanda was booked for assault with a deadly weapon in Howard County on June 2, 2022. The charge was dismissed.

The man who murdered her was charged with assault with a deadly weaon in Howard County on June 2, 2022. The booking numbers are numerically sequential (meaning they were both booked into the system by the same LE clerk/official at the same time). The charge was also dismissed.

I do not personally think that is a concidence.
