Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar characterized the discovery as suspicious.

“It was off the beaten path. This is a very desolate road to begin with, but then you add to that the remains were found about 20 yards deep on private property behind a fence and gate,” Salazar said. “It’s not a very accessible area. Someone would have to be looking for a spot.”

Although there has been no identification, the site was among those heavily combed in the search for Andreen McDonald, the woman who went missing under suspicious circumstances at the end of February.

A skull and bones were found scattered on private property in the 600 block of Specht Road at about 7:30 p.m., Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

A friend of the property owner was walking around a field when they found the remains, the sheriff said.

So the discovery was made in the late afternoon or evening yesterday. The Sheriff states that deputies didn't have much daylight yesterday to proceed but that they will hit the ground running today. Good.

My heart aches everyday for Andreen, her family, but especially her sweet baby girl! I am hopeful this is her!

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is cautiously optimistic it has found the possible remains of missing mother Andreen McDonald, who was last seen February 28.

OMG I'm so thankful for this post! My nextdoor app had several people asking me questions as to updates and whether they have re-arrested hubby yet. I can only hope they've found something that would tie back to him if this is indeed Audra. Also thankful her family can get even a glimpse of closure.

Hope this leads to justice for Andreen. Her "husband" (I use that term as loosely as humanly possible) deserves to rot in a prison cell.

After listening to last night's press conference, thank you @PommyMommy , I don't honestly believe there will be much if any new information in this morning's press conference. Due to the timing of the discovery no investigations were able to be completed overnight IMO.

Wow. Looking at the vast amount of open space, it's amazing that remains were found out there. I hope we will have more news later today, and an arrest very soon. Justice for Andreen.

This is quite a distance from the area searched earlier not far from my property (where another body was found) off Highway 16.

Well I hope it’s her since we pretty much know what happened to Andreen, but I also don’t want to give up that tiny fraction of hope that she’s alive somewhere. Even though that’s pretty minuscule in this case.
I just want justice for her and for her daughter.

Human remains found in North Side near search area for missing mom | KTSA

A man walking on his friend’s private property off of Specht Road discovered the bones and called the sheriff’s office around 7:30 Thursday night.

“Deputies came out and verified that they were in fact human remains consisting of a skull and several bones that were scattered around,” said Sheriff Javier Salazar.

His deputies had been up and down that road on horseback last March after McDonald’s disappearance, but the remains found Thursday were on private property behind a gate about 20 miles from the road. He says there are several sun-bleached bones that may have been scattered around by animals.

It usually takes awhile to identify skeletal remains, but Salazar says it shouldn’t take long to determine if they are those of Andreen McDonald.

“With Andreen, we do have dental records,” he said.

Sheriff: 'Way too early' to tell if human remains belong to Andreen McDonald

Search parties have been in the area to look for McDonald since she was reported missing on March 1, but Salazar said the remains were found on private property where they previously haven't searched.

The remains were found by a family friend of the property owners, Salazar said. The owners oversee several properties and "seldom" come out to the 50-acre tract in Bexar County, the sheriff said.

Investigators are still reconstructing the scene and haven't yet sent the remains to be tested. Salazar said that will happen as soon as officials from the medical examiner's office gives them clearance to remove the bones and the skull found on the property.

Beside the remains, Salazar said they haven't found any signficant personal items, like clothing.

About 40 deputies and FBI agents were stationed at the scene overnight to preserve it and the search for more of the remains continued early Friday. Salazar said they may remain out there for the next few days while they continue to search the area.
