I feel like they had to be watching him closely FOR SURE. They pretty much knew he killed and burned her IMO & had a little girl essentially telling them as much, but just didn’t have her body. I bet LE was on pins & needles until she was found. I’m local and have gotten the sense that they REALLY didn’t want this guy to get away with this horrific crime. Andreen was really well liked and respected here.
Howdy neighbor!:)

I have this feeling too. They had him early on but they did not have a murder charge or a body. You are local? People have to be happy there with the result even if it leaves no hope she is alive I would assume--LE pretty much said that early on. He is back in jail though, what great news. I think friends and LE perhaps knew exactly what they were doing.

I agree with others that this child witnessing whatever happened is so heinous and says a lot. It is one thing if for say you just lose it with a temper and your child sees it (bad enough) but she seems to know about the fire, etc. I was actually worried in this case that justice would not result.

Jmo.

I'm sure all of you know this little factoid but I just read this and was dumbstruck

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
It is estimated that 4,400 unidentified bodies are recovered each year, with approximately 1,000 of those bodies remaining unidentified after one year.

This was certainly good news to start out the work week. Hopefully Andreen receives the justice she deserves through the judicial process.

Andreen McDonald Remembered at Sunday Vigil
[...]

The family of Andreen McDonald told a crowd of nearly 50 people that their support has been tremendous.

Many people brought flowers, balloons and pictures of Andreen McDonald to put alongside a cross that now stands in honor of her memory.

[...]

The family says now they are discussing whether or not to fly the remains of Andreen McDonald to Jamaica where she grew up while the judicial system plays out in this murder case.

Family, friends, strangers gather to remember Andreen McDonald
[...]

HMS, Andreen McDonald's mother, wept among those who gathered Sunday to remember her daughter. Andreen McDonald's cousin, CS, also attended.

"(Andreen McDonald) made a difference," CS told KSAT. "The name of her business is Starlight, and I really feel like a star has been dimmed."

[...]

"I actually enjoyed him being arrested," CS said. "That was nice. I like that little public shaming."

During the vigil, people left flowers at a handmade cross. By the end of the evening, the memorial had grown to several bouquets of purple and white flowers, photos of the fitness enthusiast, an angel figurine and candles.

[...]

"Any ounce of understanding that we had for Andy is gone," CS said. "You do not have the right to do this to any human being. Andreen was far from perfect. She had her flaws, but you do not have the right to do this to anybody's child."

It’s completely none of my business and maybe out of line for me to say this.. but i hope they keep Andreen’s remains close to her daughter and mother so they can go visit her grave together and grieve. This poor little girl is going to have to go through a lot of therapy and processing :(

Andreen McDonald mourned by family, friends at site where her remains were found
[...]

On Sunday evening, more than 100 family, friends and searchers gathered off Specht Road to pay their respects to Andreen, placing butterfly decorations along a fence at the edge of the field where her remains were found. Nearby, a wooden cross adorned with flowers, candles and balloons stood beside a gate.

[...]

Andreen, 29, was a fitness enthusiast who had started a successful business, Starlight Homes Assisted Living, when she was 22. She doted on her 7-year-old daughter.

[...]

“Andreen was too magnificent and too sweet to remain in this world,” NB said. “He made her an angel.”

Andreen’s coworker of eight years, JL, was still trying to process the news. She described how she had texted her the night she disappeared. It was out of character for Andreen not to respond to one of the five messages she sent.

[...]

Until the discovery of the remains, she was one of many who had held on to a sliver of hope that Andreen was alive somewhere. HMS wailed in anguish as JL said she couldn’t believe what investigators said had happened to Andreen. An arrest affidavit detailed evidence that McDonald killed her and set fire to her remains.

[...]

CS said the months after her disappearance were difficult for the family, as other bodies were discovered in unrelated cases. She said she did not believe in closure, and that the family was looking forward to justice.

“Texas has a reputation for justice, and my family — we’re going to hold them to that,” she said.

OOOOHHHHH Dear Lord I'm literally bawling my eyeballs out for this sweet child. How does ANYONE live with that vision, much less an innocent child watching what happened to her mother....an autistic child, no less. I can't even bear it.

I'd like to know more about these cow skulls and how they were known to be in certain areas of the 50 acre property. JMO
The farmer probably knows where the cows were buried when they died.

I was already sick over what the poor child was going through, but I hadn’t even imagined this in the worst of possibilities. He truly is a monster to have let his child witness this horrific crime on her mother.

It’s a miracle she wasn’t killed with her mom since she was a witness.

So glad she survived, but hate to imagine what she will have to overcome. Heartbreaking.

JUL 15, 2019 - Video of HS's interview at the link
Andreen McDonald's mother breaks silence on daughter's murder
Every morning for the past four months, HS has walked into her daughter’s bedroom and spoken to her.

“What I said this morning is, ‘Andreen I am so sorry for what happen this way and you did not deserve it,’” HS said.

[...]

“It’s not a full body it’s just a couple bones and she don’t deserve that,” HS said.

[...]

HS says the motive for the alleged murder is a mystery to her.

[...]

Now, HS lives in the home where Andreen likely died.

Taking care of her 8-year-old autistic granddaughter who will never see her mother again.

“She is very happy because she doesn’t know that her mom is not coming back,” Smith said.

[...]

The family is still waiting to get the remains back from the Bexar County Medical Examiner, then they’ll figure out funeral arrangements.

Arrest Warrant Offers Grim Look at Andreen McDonald Slaying
The same arrest warrant that landed Air Force Officer Andre McDonald in jail and charged with killing his wife Andreen McDonald, reveals gruesome details in the Bexar County slaying.

[...]

The court records say Andreen McDonald's remains were found covered with wood and bones from a dead cow. The pile then was set on fire. A detective wrote in the arrest warrant that melted plastic or synthetic material was found entangled with the remains. The same warrant states McDonald previously confessed he and his wife were fighting shortly before she went missing.

[...]

It wasn't until Andreen McDonald's body was found that DNA collected throughout the investigation and a mountain of other physical evidence all came together leading to McDonald’s arrest.
