Thompson was initially arrested for Injury to a Child Saturday after a concerned neighbor called police then shot video as he confronted her for locking her 22-year-old daughter with special needs in a cage in her backyard.

In the video, the girl is heard loudly crying and screaming from the cage as the neighbor questions and scolds Thompson. He then comforts the girl when officers arrive on scene.

Anson police were called for a welfare check around 8:30 p.m. following a report of screaming heard from Thompson's backyard on Liberty Way.

Police state the young woman suffers from significant physical and mental disabilities.

Graziose declined to say how long the woman was locked in the cage or how often she was in there. He told Law&Crime that Thompson and her late husband adopted the girl when she was 2 years old. After cops arrived on the scene, they transported the victim to the hospital where she was treated and released. The state's Adult Protective Services agency is working with her to make sure she receives what she needs.
