Wouldn't have imagined him being a prius kind of guy! His mugshot in that article is scary, dead hardened eyes. Praying for all of Dallas today! Be safe!

That struck me as very weird also! A Prius owner would be just about be the last person that I would suspect in a police stand-off like this.

There's video of the van ramming the police cruiser near the bottom of this article.

This is a heck of a thing to wake up to on a Saturday morning! I need a LOT more coffee before I can even begin to absorb this news.

You'd better brew a BIG pot because something tells me this isn't going to end soon.

<<snipped>
Brown said the suspect driving the van has told officers that he blames police for losing custody of his son and “accusing him of being a terrorist.”
BBM Oh, well, I suppose this proves otherwise. (SMH)

Joshua Guilbaud, 25, who lives in a building across the street from the police headquarters, said in a phone interview that he gathered with his neighbors and watched the scene unfold from a window, filming and posting updates on Twitter as the police exchanged fire with the suspects.

[...]

Mr. Guilbaud said that after the gunshots appeared to subside, police officers knocked on his door and gave him the option to evacuate while the authorities searched for remaining explosives. On Saturday morning, he and his neighbors remained in the basement of their building, waiting to be given the clear.

Normally, I would think living across the street from police headquarters would make a person feel pretty safe. I guess those days are gone because now LE are targets of criminals. :(

Morning and thanks for the updates, glad they disabled the vehicle. I wonder who's going to blink first, he can't go anywhere.

I'll be relieved if they can confirm there's only one lone nut involved.

Don't know, but the presser referred to suspects.

Police said they were investigating reports that one suspect may have gotten into the van while it was parked outside the headquarters building and another suspect may have failed to get back in the van before it sped away. They were also looking into information supplied by a witness that a suspect was shooting at officers from the second floor of an apartment complex near the police headquarters. The police evacuated residents from that complex.

Good lord - van puchased off Ebay in June first. Captialsim at its finest, just the world gets nuttier with each and every passing day

The police report shows that the incident began at Boulware’s mother’s house in Dallas in May 2013. Police said Boulware grabbed his mother around the neck with both of his hands and began choking her. Boulware’s uncle then removed his hands from his mother’s throat and pushed him away. Boulware then punched his uncle several times, police said in the report. His mother call 911 and then struck Boulware in the back of the head several times with a laptop computer while he was fighting on the ground with his uncle

Boulware “talks to himself quite frequently and appears to be delusional,” but was not taking any medications. He did not have any prior criminal history. During the 2013 incident, police said Boulware “began making comments about North and South Korea, and began rudely talking about religion, Jews and Christians.”

boy’s mother has a history of drug problems, according to the court filings.
