Cherokee County sheriff's deputies believe the children are with 32-year-old Jesse Ray Schmidt.
Desmond was last seen wearing a blue and black t-shirt, gray shorts and wolverine hiking boots. Officials say he is a white male, 5'5", 154 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes.
Ashlynn was last seen wearing a peach t-shirt, peach shorts and gray and pink Nike shoes. She is described as a white female, 5'2", 109 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.
Schmidt is described as a white male, 5'10", 160 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. It is unclear how Schmidt knows the children or if he is related to them.
DPS officials say Schmidt is driving a black 2012 Honda Civic with Texas license plate number BNX6155.
