Attorney: McCombs 'Devastated' About Glover's Death

Family In Disbelief Over Alleged Motive In Teen's Death

RICHMOND, Texas -- One of the teens accused of killing Ashton Glover, 16, said he "feels terrible" about what happened, his attorney told KPRC Local 2.
Matthew McCombs, 18, appeared in Fort Bend County court for an arraignment Tuesday. The judge read McCombs his rights and set his bail at $1 million.

"He's devastated about this. He's really sorry for what's happened in this case. He feels terrible," said Ira Chenken, McCombs' attorney. "If any of you are parents, and something like this happened to your child, you could just imagine how devastated the family is."

***
Officers said they left her body in the dirt and went to eat breakfast at an IHOP in Sugar Land and then returned to bury her body.

***
Wright did not elaborate on the statement or motive in order to not jeopardize the case. He also would not say why Glover was the victim.
"I'll have to stop with the statement made -- morbid curiosity. Of course, there's more answers to that, but, after conferring with the district attorney and others, they requested that we not go beyond that," he said.

Oh, poor baby! He's facing the life in prison and/or the death penalty so he's just devasted about it all!

I hope he rots in hell... killing an innocent young woman just for the thrill of it... just out of curiosity... I don't feel sorry for him or his family. I hope he gets what he deserves!

"Matthew is in a very, very serious position right now. Like all people in the United States, he is entitled to a fair and impartial jury. He's innocent until proven guilty. And we are going to prepare a defense," he said

Innocent my @$$... he pulled a trigger and admitted to it!!

"This county hasn't had this kind of publicity on a case in quite a while, and right now I don't know if he will be able to get a fair trial.

Was it fair that he killed this young women just starting her life??

Investigators said Brown and McCombs met Glover on the night of July 7 at a Sugar Land coffee shop and drove her to the field where McCombs shot her in the head. The pair left the scene and went to a restaurant where they ate breakfast. They later returned to the field and buried Glover, they said.

Oh- okay, well at least they weren't hungry when they went back to bury her. Is that where they discussed the rest of their "plan"???

This is just sickening. They murdered Ashton out of morbid curiosity and then after they shot her they ate breakfast. Unbelievable. I don't believe for even a second that that killer is sorry now. It takes a sociopath to be able to shot someone in the head...someone he even liked as a person...and then to be able to eat a meal. I won't even go into detail about what I hope happens to both of these killers in prison.

My brother-in-law is a neighbor of Ashton's mother. They are devastated by this young teen's death. Ashton has been in their home on several occasions and they thought very highly of her.

The rumor floating around (and I did say it's a rumor) is that the boy who pulled the trigger said he wanted to know how it felt to watch someone fall after being killed. This boy obviously has some major problems, but I still think he should get the death penalty for what he did. It IS Texas after all.....and as Ron White says.....they've installed an express lane for death row!! Put him at the front of the line.

I read that the attorney for one of the killers wants a change of venue---lets hope that they receive the change and come to the county (Gillespie) that I live in.....If they come here I can almost guarantee the death penalty will be given, and at that time the attorney will be crying that he didnt get a fair trial.

This quaint guiet country town that I live in gives all the impression that we are living in la la land, but give us a death trial, and the death penalty will be handed out. Guaranteed. Basically the people in this town will not put up with too much crap.

I think moving this trial any where in the Houston vacinity (or Harris County vacinity) people will still feel the same as if they did it in SugarLand!! But I also think why should they move it, why does he deserve a fair break... Ashton did and she didn't get it.

It's crazy the things these people will ask for. I know someone has to do it, but how can these attorneys defend people when they know they are guilty??

I don't know how anyone can defend someone who has committed murders like this one. I know the killers deserve an attorney and fair trial, blah, blah, but how would you defend this guy? He admitted he murdered Ashton. It is obvious that that was the only reason that those guys took her to that field.
They planned to murder her. They chose her for some reason. They didn't have a motive but just wanted to murder someone to see how it felt. So what is this defense attorney going to come up with in court. Is he going to try and B.S. his way through the trial like some attorney's that we know of?
Will he lie like some we have heard of...spin webs of deceit to try and make them look like truth?

How can any self respecting attorney defend child killers...child rapists/murderes, etc? How do they sleep at night when they know that they are trying to keep the worst of the worst from going to prison? When they know the horrible things people like John Couey did...yet they defend him. Can they look themselves in the eyes in a mirror? How do they look at their own children or grandchildren?

This murder is so disgusting...unbelievable and horrible I don't know where they could go to find a jury. It isn't one that a person is going to forget hearing about. How often do 2 teenage boys take a teenage female that they know and are going to school with..out to a field and just shoot her in the head for the "thrill" of it? Then they go eat breakfast!!!! I am having a hard time grasping that these creeps could actually eat after just murdering poor Ashton. Most kids that age would be heaving all over the place just seeing something like that. Most adults too. I hope they both get the death penalty. These guys are both sociopaths.

Doesn't that just sound like a typical defense attorney :loser:

Right! He only took a high school friend out to 4 wheel with the plan to shoot her in the head when they got out there....just to see what it would be like. How much nicer can a person be?

i've also got some "morbid curiosity"... i'd like to see what a person looks like when they fry in an electric chair.

I realized the other day that Sean is likely out of prison by now but I am not the best sleuth. Can anyone following this case let me know if they can find anything regarding this? I knew all three of them (grew up with them and ran in the same friendship circles). My friends and I were always under the impression Sean played a much bigger role in the murder than Matt admitted. MOO of course!!
