Tanner says hell tell them everything if he can have Christmas with his son.
^it was so repulsive hearing him say that, knowing that Athena’s family will never, ever have another day, let alone Christmas, with her again.

defendant seems to be very dry today, he is glugging the water, bet he wishes it was something much stronger than water having to sit through all these interviews, knowing Athenas family is in court

jail stripes, haven't seen them in a while, block colours is the usual prison garb

Tanner gets to have his smokes,

coming back from break

December 7th in custody interview. Tanner is sporting the jail striped uniform. He wanted month with his family on a GPS monitor. Espinosa says that isn't in my power I don't know if that is something the prosecutor and the courts would decide. Espinosa asks him to give him the info about what specifically happened to Athena as a show of good faith.

Esponisa wants to know the whys of what happened. We brought her home, now I need to understand how and why this happened.

Tanner promises to give them every tiny detail if he can go home. Espinosa says in no uncertain terms he doesn't see that happening and he won't give him false illusions that it would be possible.

Tanner says I want to answer everything you want me to but I need to be there for my family for Christmas so they have something to look back on.

Every time Espinosa asks about why this happened Tanner brings it back around to what he wants. Tanner says he hasn't "been able to cry for months and months and months. I'm a father, I took a f*cking . . I took away someone"

I've given up transcribing because it is all rinse lather repeat, Espinosa asks about why and Tanner whines about one last Christmas. Over and over and over.

  • #789
He just said he cries over running over dogs at work. And about homeless people. And squirrels.

How do you run over multiple dogs? Ugh.

Tanner, that is basically my price.:mad::mad:

Espinosa changes tacts and asks about his childhood and growing up, being taught right from wrong, etc. He asks Tanner if anything like this has ever happened before. horner says no, nothing like this has ever happened before, I cry over hitting a dog, I cry over homeless people.

Espinosa says this was a 7 year old child. Tanner brings it back to himself and his medication and how he hasn't seen Zero in two days.

Esinposa says parents want to understand the why, family needs to understand why, just like what you would want, as a parent, to understand.

Tanner I told you why. (goes back to the hit her with the truck story)

Goes off on a tangent about how he was "this" close to getting his own car and if he hadn't bumped her with his truck he would be working right now, getting this car, preparing for Christmas.

Jesus the sheer self involvement of this man is despicable and difficult to stomach.

"I'm not some deranged psychopath" "I'm just this autistic guy who likes weird music that other people don't like. I was in a Christian Punk band at one point." I've spent years mastering my craft, I've spent years writing lyrics"

Espinosa plays along calls him a smart talented musician.

"That crucial time.... I would give up everything." "Basically, my price."

He already has given up everything after raping and murdering another human being. The idea that he is so stuck on his Christmas and son is wild. That he thinks any of his idea is possible is an anathema to me.

He mistakes their wanting the truth as caring for him. Sorry, dude, they only care about getting justice for this child.

If I was a cold blooded killer I would have been killing people for years. I'm just a person."

"I wanted to let her go. HE didn't want to let her go" (referring to Zero)

Tanner: Can you all do some research for me. can you look up potential negative psychological effects of Prozac? (he is on Prozac, Strattera and rimeral (sp?) when he can't sleep)

Espinosa gets Tanner talking about his childhood.

  • #795
mom heroin addict, dad crack addict, grandma mostly raised me, and my step grandfather.

I didn't realize how bad childhood was at the time. For a big portion of my childhood dad was in prison.

his Christian punk band was called "sacred sound"

Kind of hard to understand - and the person typing up what they say - sometimes doesn't make sense. So THANK YOU @tlcya for your posts! :)

I have tuned Tanner out. He is describing an ex girlfriend who cheated with an uber driver for two months. That was the cause of his first depression and suicidal thoughts. Should have done it. MOO

He loves himself an audience.

Revolting listening to him talk about his daily routine and regular life, when we know what he did.

brags about getting into shape after breakup with Nichol, he was up to 300lbs at that point and decided to get in shape, talks about his diet, his workout routine. (nobody cares bro, why did you kill Athena and why was you DNA in areas it shouldn't have been?)
