I have lost track of how many stops they've made in this search for Athena guided by the defendant. I hope this doesn't go on much longer. I know the prosecution wants to jury to see and experience the time this wild goose chase took but boy oh boy is it tiresome.

I am worried they will tune it out and not get what the prosecution wants them to out of watching all this. The absolute time and resource suck this goose chase created for LE. The lies and deception.

we don't know if he SA'd her, we know she was nude when found and that prosecutor stated his DNA was found on her in places it should never be found on a seven year old child. However, he is not charged with SA, just the murder.

I think we are going to see the video of the in custody interview of Horner soon. But first they are clearing up some of what Horner said about The state of Athena's clothing during the driving unfruitful search guided by Horner. First he told them they would find her clothed. He described her clothing as jeans and a t-shirt.

He first told them (during the drive videos) that he had accidently hit her with his vehicle and panicked and took her. He claimed she was deceased when he put her into the truck (belied by the video of a very living uninjured Athena in his truck). They drove around various areas for approximately two hours as he led them on the wild goose chase. He claimed he had "tossed" her body into the bamboo just a short distance from the road. He used that term "tossed" repeatedly. When she was eventually located she was nowhere near any area that Horner had led them to. He was worried about losing his job, and if he would see his child again and what would happen to his son.

jail interview about to be shown was inv Oliver Ranger Danny Briley (sp?) and Ranger Espinosa interviewing Horner. He claimed he was there to deliver a package, accidently hit her and panicked putting her into the fedex truck. Now Horner is saying Athena was alive at that time and that he "asked" her to get into the vehicle. The video belies this account as well. Athena had a ew bumps and bruises but was still living when she was asked to get into the truck. He said she told him her name and asked him if he was a kidnapper. He blamed the lack of a back up camera or sensor on the truck for him allegedly hitting Athena with the truck. When asked how he killed her he said he attempted to break her neck and when that wasn't successful he strangled her with his hands. He said it numerous times during the interview.

All of this will be seen shortly on the video.

Horner claimed he had then gone to get cleaning supplies to clean the truck. He claimed he needed to clean up vomit (his) and feces (hers). throughout the interview he played the victim quite a bit in the opinion of Ranger Espinosa. there was never any accountability on his part. His lies were very self serving. He blamed the truck, he blamed his long hours, his work, his personal issues in life. Everyone but himself.

During the interview Tanner implied he was referred to a "zero". Zero was an alter ego he created for himself. This "zero" would come up in the interviews he would refer to himself as Zero. He claimed that was something he and his wife had named the alter ego a few years ago.

Whenever Horner was uncooperative Espinosa played along and would direct his questions instead to "Zero" and Horner (as Zero) would answer.

[so Horner was playing the insanity defense from the get go and Espinosa played along as needed in the interest of finding Athena]

got interrupted by client calls. just now joining to watch the interview tapes. Horner is talking about phasing out and "being in the backseat almost" describing out of body experiences where he is not in control

When asked if Athena bled or anything in the truck he paused for a while and then said I don't know. He says after that "I'm not some psychopath". "Or at least I don't think so."

I am just bawling. I could live forever without having to hear Horner describing Athena soiling herself as he strangled her. He described smelling it and finding some on the floor of his truck.
