Why would TH plead guilty if the death penalty remains on the table?

I think he knew the evidence was overwhelming so all he can do is throw himself on the mercy of the jury. I think his defense will spend a great deal of time they would have had to use trying to refute the evidence instead plucking at jurors heartstrings with stories of poor little Tanner's Aspbergers and drunk and drug addicted parents his terrible childhood blah blah blah.

Espinosa describes Tanner getting up to write something on the board in the interview room when he was left alone in there. He wrote: "He's going to hurt me, please help" in red letters

later when queried about what he wrote he tells LEOs about his alter ego - Zero.

ETA I think that is why prosecution is spending a lot of time on these interviews and bringing up this Zero situation. Because the defense will attempt to use it to suggest their poor client Horner has some sort of mental health issue. He does not IMO he is a cowardly child predator who murdered a beautiful little girl. Because he could. Because he wanted to.

She asked if he was a Kidnapper.. 😧

My heart..

when confronted with the fact that he lied to FBI the other day when claiming he had no idea about the missing little girl and didn't recall that delivery Horner claims they didn't talk to him (here is where Zero makes an appearance in the conversation)

He claims Zero is the one who lied to the FBI and Zero is going to hurt him. They play along and say they will help him, protect him, get him the help he needs. Horner "how can you protect me from?"

"he (zero) is telling me this is all a trap"

[this guy is a horrible actor, almost as bad as Konig]

Zero made him take the girl, he just wanted to leave her there. Zero kept telling him he had to get rid of her.

"I am going to miss out on the biggest part of my child's life" "I would rather die"

"I am going to miss out on all his Christmases his birthdays, all because I listened to a voice that probably isn't even there"

All I can think is how lucky that kid is that he's going to be in prison forever.

If he did this to a child who was a stranger, what would he do to a child he had daily access to?

She was found in the water right? Not bamboo?

Horner's invention of 'Zero' reminds me of Leticia Stauch grasping for butterflies moment. No dice, loosah.

This guys an idiot.

Was he psychiatrically examined?
Are there any opinions of specialists about his MH condition?
He doesn't seem exactly normal IMO.

I wish they would have trimmed these videos. We don't need to hear them chatting and joking with him. Maddening.

he is cunning in how he told LE where her body was in bamboo, and then changed into Zero persona to reveal her correct location, this gives the defense an argument to say the defendant did not know where Athena was, he was trying to help and he thought he had put her body in bamboo, but Zero was in control and Zero had placed her body in river, and it was only when the Zero personality came forward that Zero was able to tell LE the correct place,

If he is going to argue DID the defense did not mention that as a diagnosis in openings, who knows if they will go down this route, DID is a recognized disorder, but whether the defendant has ever been diagnosed we have yet to find out,

but he does have some smarts in being so insistent that she was in the bamboo, and it was Zero who gave the correct location, I have no idea if he has DID, if he was diagnosed you would think he would have told LE in interview, plus he never mentions he was diagnosed with Asperger's) I think this was what the defense said he has been diagnosed with) in his interviews,

I guess we will be hearing more about Zero,

state can argue that he knew everything else about the crimes, and Zero is a creation of his imagination and he made this all up to lesson his culpability,

he for sure if on the spectrum somewhere, I am and I immediately see many things in him that I see in myself, except I am not wont to go out murdering children,

I suspect no diagnosis was made because he does not have DID. And I believe that is probably why he ultimately plead guilty, because that defense was not going to be available to him. The jury will only be determining his sentence because of that eleventh hour plea

I think the Zero persona is bs. Just my opinion.

have they gotten to the audio yet? I want to try to prepare myself for that part. :(

Same here. Remember that older psychologist who tried to make the argument of DID in Letecia’s trial? Didn’t fly then and won’t fly here IMO.

DID’s more complicated than just pretending some dude is commanding you to harm someone. That’s where Letecia fell short and where Horner will slip too.

I wonder if we will see the transformation into "Zero" that the Ranger said defendant enacted at the bamboo, before "Zero" took him to the body that was in the river,
