so far the jury has seen the videos taken in the days prior to and the day after the abduction. I think we are building to THE video that only contains audio from the abduction and murder. This is so awful, waiting for that some and knowing it is coming. Uggh

This is sickening. What -- he's reliving it?

Returning to the scene of the crime in his perfect delivery truck camouflage...

The jury will grant him no mercy.

I hope that they give him the DP.
LWOP won't be a punishment for him. He'll be reliving that hour over and over again, not because he's haunted, but because he relished every bit of it.
There is no fixing him, so don't reward him with being able to relive that hour for the rest of his life.
Sick and evil and I would swear that he's done this many times before. I know about the two teenage victims, but I'm convinced that there are others out there who weren't able to fight like Athena did and just never told anyone.
IMO

Oh I didn’t mean to make a case for his consideration. Maybe I was just surprised to see an ounce of emotion creep across this creeps face. Glad his reality has finally sunk in. I wonder if he will speak at sentencing.
I know you did not , it was my fault for not clarifying that I knew you weren't saying that ❤️

I responded in a hurry and wrote my post so quickly

This man just boils my blood

Separated for 60 years.
No contact. No answers.
Until a cold case changed everything.

In 1971, a young woman was found barely alive in a quiet Maryland field with no ID, and no witnesses. Succumbing to her injuries, her case went cold.

For 54 years, her identity remained unknown, until advances in forensic DNA and a determined investigation finally uncovered the truth, revealing a family torn apart for decades and reunited two siblings who had not seen each other in 60 years.

In Episode 2 of Trace Identity, a new series from Othram Studios, we explore how DNA can transform uncertainty into identity and change lives in ways no one expects.

they are playing the video/audio of the van to jury, that video that Judge has said only jury needs to hear

Whew, sending strength to everyone in the courtroom right now.
Except for the defendant. He can kick rocks.
IMO.

The state asked Jacob Strand to describe how Athena's murder impacted him and his role as a man.

"It made me feel horrible," Strand said. "You know, like, I should have done something or been there. I wasn't there to protect them like I should be, like a father's role."

Strand went on to describe the guilt he felt after Athena's death and how he handled his pain and trauma through "self-destruction." Strand said he "just kind of held everything in," and he told the jury that he turned to alcohol. He said her death ruined his marriage, that he couldn't sleep, and that he "lost, like 50 pounds" because he "would only eat, like, every seven days."

He said that Athena's sister was in therapy after Athena's death, and that she recently returned to therapy because she had been having nightmares about "everything that she's having to hear about and what happened to her sister."

When the prosecution passed the witness, the defense said, "Mr. Strand, we have no questions for you, and we are terribly sorry for your loss."

“I wasn't there to protect them,” Athena Strand's father describes how her disappearance affected him
I'm in tears , the poor man shut down ,locked the world out as a self protect . An inner need to protect himself from any more pain . 💔 if a soul could break like our bones ,this is what it looks like . It is defeat , a life living as a shell because that Demon crushed all his hope ,dreams and desires and left a hollow

Tanners crime didn't only kill Athena ,he killed anyone who loved her spiritually 😢

I think we're only on a short break, at the judge's request, unless I missed something.

The jury HAS to stay present, and listen to this video. They HAVE to hear it. We, thankfully get to opt out. Athena's Momma pre-emptively and with remorse, thanked the jury for what they are about to hear yesterday.

Wishing them all strength and courage, peace and love.

Angels are in the courtroom ( IMO )

thank God. I was hoping the gallery would not be present for that evidence

I wish one of the livefeeds was showing the jury but understand why that isn't done, but being we are flies on the wall for trial when we watch the livestreams I always wish I could see jurors faces and how they are reacting/responding to the defendant.

There are some things you can never un-see or un-hear. The sounds of a child being murdered are one of those things.
I can't even imagine how they'll have to deal with this.

10:30 am

We're told that jurors are now watching about 2.5 hours of video that includes the abduction and killing of Athena. The judge has ordered the video feed cut. We will have a live report from our reporter and legal expert, both of whom are in the courtroom viewing what the jurors are seeing, later this morning.

This is all so disturbing.

Methodical, predatory.
Really makes you wonder how much he has gotten away with before this.

And not just murdered, but tortured sexually.

For an hour.

60 minutes.

3600 seconds.

They may never recover.
