I am possibly the only poster who is staunchly against the DP, and that includes him, nobody has the right to take a life and that includes him, he did so and is therefore on trial and will be punished,

state sanctioned murder is abhorrent to me
You're not alone, I agree with you. I think a whole life stuck in prison is a bigger punishment for him than a relatively peaceful death anyway. It's not like he's going to have it easy in there.

Maybe martial arts should be taught as PE in elementary schools.
Yes, great idea but I don’t think it would help here. She was a 67lb child up against a 250lb monster.

Yes, Cherish. Shaniya Davis and Cupcake, too.

The people who hurt them should never be free. They forfeited their membership in the human race.

MOO
Add Jessica Lunsford to that horrible list (kidnapped from bed by neighbor and buried alive).

There’s nothing the defense will be able to do, it’s his right but he’s an absolute monster and thankfully the video and audio weren’t deleted.

Like others have said this case is extremely upsetting I have a daughter around the same age, it’s not a consolation to the parents but at least he won’t do it again (I’m not convinced he hasn’t done it before).

Hopefully technology keeps capturing these killers, a lot of unsolved Johnny Gosch cases in the past

I'm against it too, and am very glad to have never lived in a country which has the DP in modern times.

I see it as a Texan issue in this particular case. Partially because it’s absolutely proven, which is not always the case - which is one of the reasons I'm glad my countries don't have the DP anymore, no state killing the wrong person in my name, bad enough that some people are wrongly imprisoned for decades.

it’s the whole death row experience that’s part of the punishment though. Decades of solitary confinement with only 1 hour outside a cell. Nobody to play cards and pass the time with. Limited visits behind layers of plexiglass- can’t hug his kid. This loser would do just fine in prison- he’d love chatting all day with the other chomos and not have to stress about anything. If he could be hung in the public square I’m down with that.
