TX - Austin Package Bombs #3

I agree. Was he accused of molestation? or falsely accused? Was he referring to his pastor?

He mentioned something about what someone did as an adolescent so I thought he might be talking about himself. He did something (and hadn't been caught) or was worried about doing something. Or even that he'd had something done to him but wanted to defend that person.

I wonder if MAC had ever attended a public school or was he always homeschooled?

We may never hear/see the confession video if it has things in it that might embarass the "great family'.

He may have shared what his "challenges" were and LE has decided there's nothing to be gained by releasing them.

I wonder, also, if he knew he was gay but hadn't come out yet and LE doesn't want to "embarass" the family.

On the same line of thinking here.

Nobody is going through PTSD. Being shocked and on edge for a couple of days or weeks after something like this happened is normal and not an illness. PTSD is a severe illness that takes many years of treatment and most people who have it can't live a normal life anymore.

https://adaa.org/understanding-anxiety/posttraumatic-stress-disorder-ptsd/symptoms

"PTSD is diagnosed after a person experiences symptoms for at least one month following a traumatic event. However symptoms may not appear until several months or even years later."

My most sincere apologies to all concerned.

Thanks very much for setting me straight. :shame:

Probably too much empathy on my part. I'm just one of those compassionate, bleeding heart kind of people. :truce:

A few Austin residents are actually suffering from clinical PTSD (victims and their neighbors, co-workers) and the rest are understandably on edge still.

Austin bombing victim accepted at Oberlin before death

http://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Au...cepted-at-Oberlin-before-death-477761623.html

Michael Manderen, the admissions director for the Ohio-based conservatory, says Draylen Mason would have been offered one of 130 spots next fall out of a pool of 1,500 applicants.

Manderen says the decision was made before March 12, when Mason was killed by a package bomb, but acceptance decisions aren't conveyed to applicants until Friday afternoon.

Stop feeling sorry for the Austin bomber

depressing, he had his whole life ahead of him! Very talented young man played stand-up bass.

I was about to post those articles also!

Yes, it's very sad. He must have been a very talented musician. Oberlin is a very prestigious college, its very competitive to get into their music program. Very $$$$, though they probably would have offered him a scholarship.

I can imagine, I'm sure everyone is still jumpy, fearful of packages on their doorstep or in public. It must have been very stressful while he was still on the loose and it's probably hard to shake that fear.

thanks! I am sure it is OK to name her. At the time of my post I could not find anything with her name or I would have included it. Do we still not know the Fed Ex worker?

You're welcome. As of now, I've not learned the FedEx worker's name. Ms. Herrera's name has not been in the press much. I'm not sure why, unless, perhaps, it's because she is still hospitalized, and she nor her mother, have not spoken to the press.

I have personally seen it happen several times.
The article is updated and pieces of the previous article are removed.
It has happened in many cases here on Websleuths.
Someone will quote an article, then the next day that statement is gone...
I just assumed LE asked for certain info to be redacted because they don't want it to be public knowledge at that time.

Yes, same here. I've even begun taking screenshots if it's something I feel is important.

From the link http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...ustin-bombing-victim-kass-20180322-story.html posted above:

"Every once in a while, you see a kid that just has this spark," said William Dick, Draylen’s former conductor at the Austin Youth Orchestra.

"When Draylen appeared, in some sense he was incandescent, like a Rembrandt painting where the light sort of comes out of him,” Dick said. “He’s in the room and his little spirit was there, along with the technical proficiency he had.”

My heart breaks.

"Incandescent" perfectly describes Draylen. As I listened to him play, I felt a quiet, peaceful joy. He was the physical embodiment of a certain kind of rare, golden light - not a glaring light that demands attention. No - his was an elegant light that, when it shone, invoked an invitation, gently drawing one in to revel in the Beauty of Life.

This world is a dimmer place in the wake of his loss.

May we always remember Draylen Mason. May we always be grateful for the fleeting gift he imparted during his brief journey upon this Earth.

I've noticed a few headlines changed from Austin Bomber Dead to Alleged Austin Bomber.
That concerns me. Why the change days later?

Until somebody has been convicted they are legally only "alleged" Since he is dead he could never be convicted.

“The biggest clue or piece of evidence really was the suspect’s fatal mistake: walking into the FedEx office,” U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, said. “Up to that point, he had avoided surveillance cameras.”

https://www.statesman.com/news/insi...mark-conditt-downfall/Bzt2O8zptxlrdHBqzgNxpJ/

One reason Conditt had eluded authorities for so long is that he had been careful about not having his cellphone on at key moments during the bombings, McCaul said. His phone was off for much of Tuesday, making the search difficult, he said.

Although they still didn’t know exactly where he was, officials prepared for a raid on Conditt’s home in Pflugerville. During the preparations, a miscommunication led a two-man paramedic crew from the Pflugerville Fire Department to knock on Conditt’s door, not knowing that he was connected to the bombings.

The plan had been for them to wait nearby and be on hand in case someone was injured during the raid.

“I wish I were sorry but I am not,” Conditt said in the video, according to the sources.

He also said that he planned to go to a crowded McDonald’s and blow himself up if he felt he was about to be arrested.

In listening to John Lordan on You Tube (Lordanarts), he indicated the recent press reporting reflects the police were on to Mark Conditt for 24 hours before the final confrontation. If this is true, I'm wondering why they didn't release the name to the press requesting the man present himself to the police for an interview?

fear of him going highly public, hurting many people
fear of him increasing rapidly

Releasing MC's name and asking him to show up for an interview would be an incredibly stupid thing to do. Considering MC wanted to go to McDonalds to blow himself and others up if police were after him.

The idea is not so far fetched. The knowledge we have after an event is not the same as before or during an event. If the public is aware the police are looking for someone, then the person cannot hide. Man hunts have used public awareness in the past.

In this case, they may have felt their electronic net was closing and that as soon as he came up on the network that would be self-identification enough. (This just came to mind after reading replies. Thank you for your replies to my question -- these prompted thinking it through.)
