East Texas baby dies after left in hot car, father charged

Jackson Tetrick, 25, said he took his wife to work Thursday morning, dropped another child at school, then went home before driving to work in Athens. He returned Thursday afternoon to school to retrieve the older child, then remembered the baby was still in her car seat. Temperatures were in the 90s.

He at least looks like he was crying. They’re young with 2 kids and seem to both be driven and work. I hope he can forgive himself at some point as long as this truly was an innocent careless awful mistake.

Da*n- AGAIN??? I truly don't understand how you forget your child is in the car...not to mention in the heat. SMDH.

Yeah, I just can't understand how you leave a baby in a car. I know there all these reports of "sometimes it really is a mistake" but how in the world you forget a living human in a car, I really just can't.

Sleep deprived. Young family with two kids, two jobs, multiple responsibilities and one car...

Also - it was a baby.

Not to exonerate him, but babies are different. Some are good sleepers. Some are terrible. My youngest one was so colicky, he practically did not sleep till 4 months of age. Me and my husband both were working and took turns sleeping with the baby. Then, my father moved in with us, temporarily, and would "relieve" one of us, occasionally. Then, husband's family came, stayed in our house and helped out, too. We did not forget the kid anywhere, and did not get into accidents, but it was a very hard time. We were much older. I can imagine a young couple, with two kids. If they do not have regular help or family support, they might end up exhausted.
