GUILTY TX - Billy Joe Harris for rapes of elderly women in 6 counties, 2011

  • #201
Just curious, Ruflossn, did you see him in the description of the "Power Reassurance Rapist"? I will do some more research on the "organized offender".

With the limited info that has been released by LE, I would say, "yes". He definitely has the characteristics of the "Power Reassurance Rapist" but, it is important to remember that these creeps can start off the attack w/ the attitude of the PRP and depending on behavior of the victim, change their actions. Sometimes, the PRP's will actually be "Power-Assertive Rapist's" but begin the attack w/ the demeanor of a PRP.

When studying profiling, you will learn that rarely does a criminal "fit into one type". When learning the organized / disorganized criteria, there is also a 3rd type and that is a "mixed offender". This is a criminal that floats between both organized and disorganized. When dealing w/ rapists it is common to find a rapist may begin his criminal career as one type of rapist and then escalate into another "type'.

These creeps fantasize about their crimes. As they fantasize, they become bored and change their fantasies. The fantasies become more and more sick and twisted. That is why there is often an escalation in the time frame of attacks and an escalation of violence.

Below is a link that has some info on Profiling.
Hope this helps.

: )

http://www.deviantcrimes.com/organize_disorganized.htm

The FBI began using the terms organized and disorganized to describe offenders that demonstrated psychopathology during the commission of their crimes. Rather than using the terms psychopathic or psychotic, the FBI chose to use organized and disorganized respectively to describe offenders. This ultimately allowed them to describe the psychopath or psychotic offender without using psychological jargon. Ressler et al. (1988) describe the organized offender as an individual who plans the offense to optimize control of the victim and situation, while the disorganized offender does not pre-plan and attacks suddenly to overpower the victim.

If this guy is cutting the phone line and breaking into the home before coming back again to rape, I wonder if the ladies were usually home when this happened. I still don't quite understand why he would do that since cut phone lines and burglarizing would really scare a person, alert the neighbors, police, and the families.

Ruflossn--Thanks so much for the info on profiling. I'll read all the details. I have to tell you that I liken it to finding out that one of my adult sons had developed bipolar disorder. I read everything I could about it and thought I had it down. Two years later, another was diagnosed and it was a very different type, Rapid Cycling. Back to the research books. Three years later and the last one was diagnosed, with Mixed Type (the most challenging) and I had to throw out the research books. I've come to think that all science and medicine and most likely, forensics is a spectrum--a continuum. Relatively few things fit into neat little boxes. My mind craves finding the some of the keys to the mysteries, though.

Texas Mist--Not everyone knows how to remove a window pane or an entire window-- quietly. He'd had to have worked in construction as some point in his life or insurance repair. And we know those gloves we saw were NOT surgical gloves. What if he did just ditch the purse after fishing out the plastic rain hat as a little trophy (every Texas woman over 65 has one of those) and some street 🤬🤬🤬🤬 found the purse and is the creep in the photo?

Filly, I think the hospice idea is as close as I can get but I don't (for some reason) think he's stupid. He's far too calculating. The calling and laughing really shocks me as it doesn't fit. We read about calling to check on the victim but not to terrorize. That's really spooky.

OK, the accent. I'm with you TM, these ladies are not talking about a Latino accent they're referring to "talkin' black". Not one, not a single one of my boys talks "black" and they came to us as ages 2-8. They've had a number of black friends from black homes who had street jargon down a bit but my boys were raised in Shakespeare country (Ashland). Yes, they were in special ed but they spoke the "King's English". People who've only talked to my sons on the phone never know they're black and seem surprised when they meet them. Speech patterns come from childhood environment and from current peers.

One of my sons lives and works in Portland and has lots of black friends. Sometimes, when I'm on the phone with him, he'll excuse himself for a minute and I have to laugh. He's got the talk down almost right--enough to fit in--and then switches right back when talking to his Momma. My guess is that when this man is in the presence of the older white women, he uses his "white" voice. A black man who wasn't raised around that intonation couldn't pull it off.

I'm gonna bet big money that the one part of my theory which holds true is that this guy spent some time in white homes while growing up or was raised by a white mom. He's too young to have been raised as the child of a live in maid, isn't he? Please tell me so. That was so common when I used to visit in Navasota in the 60's. Even as a child, I found it so disturbing. The "white" dining room with the bell and the black maid and her kids in the kitchen. Jeesh.

I don't think he's stupid either, and wouldn't suprise me to learn that he is or was a college student. I'm not sure about hospice though, at least with the oldest victims, because so many older women are widows for years due to marrying men who are older than them, and men dying earlier. I think he prowls and cases out neighborhoods easily figuring out the areas of town where the widows would live. Plus, of our tax records are online and they show if a person gets the over 65 exemption. After not being able to sleep, I decided to look up some streets of people I know, and was shocked that widow women have homes listed in their own names. At first I thought maybe he followed the women, but now realize that all he'd have to do is look online then go prowl at night to actually get an idea of how to get in!

The media wouldn't even publish the race of the suspect. So I wouldn't put too much into "he speaks English without an accent."

Also, if this guy who attacked in Lubbock is really the Twilight Rapist then he must have chosen by location as they thought he did in another attack. The street where it happened is right by a 4 lane avenue. All he'd have to do is drive up the avenue from 63rd to about 70th street and get onto the loop which circles the whole town. He could head east or west getting away and get off at any avenues along the loop. Of course, he may have done something different in the attack where he went back and attacked the same lady again in a different location.

Has this guy been caught yet?

Txsvicki--How close is the Lubbock rape to Texas Tech? Is it in a mixed-use area or strictly residential?

Remember the discussion of the gloves? I talked to my husband about those and showed him the photo. He's a general contractor/developer and has been in the field for 40 years. He said that those gloves look like "under gloves" or glove liners. He said some companies will have boxes of them as they're cheap and you use them under a heavier industry-specific glove to keep your hands either warmer or from sweating. I found this:

http://www.saraglove.com/familydeta...ton+Gloves&familyID=10&familyName=Knit+Gloves

and he said if you want to handle glass, many guys use these:

http://www.wgsonline.com/mm5/mercha...ode=240-42300&Category_Code=togg&Store_Code=1

or this style:

http://www.dkhardware.com/product-2018-93nfw-knit-wrist-insulated-glass-handling-gloves.html

So, if that was the rapist in the photo, it's possible that the gloves he was wearing were the glove liners and he'd taken off the protective gloves he used to remove a window pane. Just a thought.

Thinking about the foster care/youth ranch angle, I found the following. I know that, here in Oregon, we have fishing days for foster kids, and I checked to see if the same occurred in Texas with hunting. I guess it does.

http://www.gvec.org/nl_pdfs/rev29n3.pdf

"The Bluebonnet Youth Ranch creates a secure, stable home atmosphere for the kids to enjoy, complete with fun activities like basketball, pool, and fishing. The average length of time that a child stays at the Ranch is two years; however, many stay longer. One beautiful 18-year-old, who aspires to become an LVN when she graduates this year, has lived at the Ranch for 10 years with her brothers. She’s nicknamed “Deadeye”, because of her keen marksmanship on their last hunting trip, and is close to the other children in the cottage. Sharing some of her thoughts about the Ranch, she said, “I’ve had the same parents the whole time I’ve been here. They treat us like their own kids. It’s good.”

“The Bluebonnet Youth Ranch is not an orphanage. It’s a place for good kids with bad problems who need some stability and a home.”

Tech is between 4th and 19th street and the attack happened on 63rd. The area is residential until 66th street where there is a dental office, an apartment complex, bank, and then a medical complex right where he could get on the loop to get away. Across the street from those businesses is the big playa lake park. I drove down that street today while my grandson was at the orthodonist and the street is one of those where there is no corner once getting off the main avenue, but goes right into another block with only one little side street off to the side. I didn't realize before, but the block behind there has some really shabby looking houses that are probably rentals.

I've had some WSers contact me privately and tell me that I need to call in a tip concerning the Tick Tock comment on the fraternity forum. Guess what? I can't find a number to call. This is not acceptable.

Can the Texans on board help me out? This is ridiculous. I'd like to specifically call a tip line or the task force. I don't want to call a detective in the county where the fraternity is located that might have opened the forum. If I can't find this readily, who else can't find this?

Tell your friend 'thanks' for us, Ruflossn...seems s/he thinks the same about the 'trophy' clocks as we do -- clocks (vs. wristwatches) are not personal -- I think this freak will turn out to be one really odd bird.

Also, what are your thoughts - and could you ask your LE friend about this, pretty please -- on the lady who was attacked after LE relocated her....jeez, I would think if LE did the relocating, they would have been careful that *nothing* was in her name, and she didn't get mail there, etc.

I mean, really -- if LE relocated her, then how did this freak find her again -- by coincidence???

Before I read that LE had relo'd her, I was thinking maybe she changed her address for her SS check or something else very important.

Also, since the vics/survivors are 65+, it makes me think there's some link to SS.....just a stretch of a guess as to how he can find these ladies who are alone....SS Administration would have a wealth of info if he had access to it.

Texas Mist ~
I e-mailed my friend your questions. Below is his response:

The town of Yoakum is probably where he is from.
First 3 attacks one victim attacked twice.
That's the one that was moved.
He has connections in Yoakum someone with a loose tongue.
He's keeping up with the investigation. (Organized offender)
He will probably be Hispanic.

I hope this helps.
:)

You could also contact the FBI.
Below is the link to the Texas FBI office.
It also has links to the Texas field offices.

I respectfully disagree with the friend about the rapist being Hispanic. The task force meets this week, so hopefully they'll be able to get some more info out to the public. The guy in the pic is easily identifiable, so maybe someone will come forward and he'll be caught this week whether he's the twilight rapist or not. I'm convinced that he is though, and that he is the black young man in the atm pic since he fits the description so well. I just hope he doesn't stick to the MO and attack again in the meantime, because there's so many little towns surrounding us.

They caught the guy who used the ATM card. Not saying if he's the rapist, but other charges may be pending. Last known address, Idalou. Small town about 18 miles East of Lubbock. Age 21.
