GUILTY TX - Billy Joe Harris for rapes of elderly women in 6 counties, 2011

  • #221
They caught the guy who used the ATM card. Not saying if he's the rapist, but other charges may be pending. Last known address, Idalou. Small town about 18 miles East of Lubbock. Age 21.

Since DNA was left at the crime scenes, so all they have to do is to compare the DNA of the suspect with that taken from the crime scenes, and they should know soon enough.

I'm waiting to hear what they get on the Lubbock lizard, Joshua. Seems he has some priors from what I read on comments, didn't look into it myself.

In looking for links to the clocks, I did find this:

Kesha : Tick Tock Lyrics

Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy
(Hey, what up girl?)
Grab my glasses, I'm out the door
I'm gonna hit this city (Lets go)
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack
Cause when I leave for the night, I ain't coming back
I'm talking - pedicure on our toes, toes
Trying on all our clothes, clothes
Boys blowing up our phones, phones
Drop-topping, playing our favorite cd's
Pulling up to the parties
Trying to get a little bit tipsy

Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, Imma fight
Till we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don't stop,no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh (x2)

Ain't got a care in world, but got plenty of beer
Ain't got no money in my pocket, but I'm already here
And now the dudes are lining up cause they hear we got swagger
But we kick em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger
I'm talking about - everybody getting crunk, crunk
Boys trying to touch my junk, junk
Gonna smack him if he getting too drunk, drunk
Now, now - we goin till they kick us out, out
Or the police shut us down, down
Police shut us down, down
Po-po shut us down,down-

Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, Imma fight
Till we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don't stop,no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh (x2)

DJ, you build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me
With my hands up
You got me now
You got that sound
Yeah, you got me

DJ, you build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me
With my hands up
Put your hands up
Put your hands up
Now, the party don't start until I walk in

Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, Imma fight
Till we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don't stop,no
Woah-oh oh oh
Woah-oh oh oh (x2)

I thought it was interesting, although possibly not related. Wondered if it could be the inspiration? Notice she traded her stuff to younger kids for a boom box...

ETA: I was thinking what if this person is some kind of telemarketer for some elderly service, i.e. AARP, elder care insurance cold calls, etc...

My mother has a thing about clocks, so the lady who claimed she could hear the clock outside her room bothered me...I've never heard a clock that was that loud, and Mom had/has several. This download could certainly work though, turned up loud enough on your MP3 player and sitting on the window ledge...

You and I think alike IWannaKnow, I read the lyrics to the song but didn't post it as I didn't see any connection. I should have gone further and listened to it.

The ticking clock bugs the heck out of me. I, too, wonder how anyone (especially an elder with possibly less keen hearing) could hear a clock OUTSIDE.

While it certainly is possible that he leaned a boombox up against houses, wouldn't that alert the victim and/or the neighbors. And how are you going to wrangle the boombox and the mounted deer heads?

Could be. I can't wait to hear any new announcements. If this is our guy, what was he doing down in Yoakum?

Concerning the possibility of the man being Hispanic/Latino, Txsvicki, remember, we have no idea if this is the rapist, a passer-by asked to use the card, or a street 🤬🤬🤬🤬 who found the purse or the card.

The reason I think it was a passer-by, talked into a "deal" with the rapist is we've been told that he used the card, not that he attempted to use the card. That tells me either that the rapist knew the pin number (having made the victim relay it) and gave it to the guy in the photo or that the pin was in the lady's purse which was found. the latter is quite possible as many elders (including my parents) carry their pin number in their wallets due to memory problems.

Missizzy - yeah, the lyrics seemed far fetched until I looked at the entire package. You know they get their ideas from somewhere.

He wouldn't have had a boombox. That was what the girl had in the video. I found that you can download a sound effect of a "tick tock clock" to your MP3 player or cell phone. I'm assuming he had that playing in the background as he was prying the window out. Plus the volume could be turned up. Sick, very sick. The only thing I can put together is your time is coming. As far as the animal heads, IF, IF the video has anything to do with this, he could be trading the heads to his friends for other things? PLUS, this guy is supposed to be very organized, methodical. Why would he turn and look directly at the ATM camera?

IWannaKnow--I could be wrong but I don't see any connection with the Kesha video. I listened to it first without the video and the only "tick-tock" is spoken and a beat with the synthesizer. I don't think that any person could hear the song and say that she heard a ticking like a time bomb.

Then I watched the video and don't really see any symbolism which could be related. It's a great dance song and I imagine that the lyrics will pass under the radar for most teen stations. Notice that Kesha's obviously leaving her upper middle class neighborhood and partying with a mixed group of "party-rats". Latino guys are portrayed far more often than black guys. I only saw one black man shown three times. I did find it interesting that they show the US flag upside down. That would limit her popularity in the military, I'd think.

I'm afraid our guy is more likely listening the Judy Garland or Bette Middler.

I researched other songs which have a real clock ticking in the background but nothing seems right. Here's some ringtones of tick-tock sounds I found:

http://www.zedge.net/ringtones/0-6-1-tick+tock/

but those only last a few seconds. We know he's got the clock so why would he need the ringtone? Why would the lady say she heard it on the side of her house? Why leave a loud clock outside where a neighbor could hear it instead of bring it inside for whatever it does for him? My head's going to explode with "why's"!!

Missizzy - I don't think I was thinking this was a script, per say, as much as a diagram. Leaving a good family, who are shocked by the behavior, to party and get money to party. Trading "bling" for other things in front of what looks like a pawn shop. "The party don't start until I get here" "tick tock on the clock but the party don't stop" "Tonight, Imma fight Till we see the sunlight" "Ain't got a care in world, but got plenty of beer
Ain't got no money in my pocket, but I'm already here". Added to the hip-hop Enyce jacket...and I believe videos carry more significance than the lyrics themselves, but I'm probably full of carp anyway.

I really can't understand the significance of the clocks, though. Or the animal heads...except that they are trophies.

One of the comments under the article about the arrest refers to Josh as a 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Another alludes to an arrest for cocaine. I'm thinking that this Josh was a passer-by and wanted a cut of the money and was just dumb enough to have his photo taken at the ATM. Or he found the purse with the card and pin in it. For whatever reason, he wanted the money for some coke. The way he's described and the fact that he played football for at least two years aren't fitting the vision I have of the serial rapist.

We know he's got the clock so why would he need the ringtone? Because then he can have it with him where ever he goes and it won't look funny like carrying a pendulum clock under your arm. Think woobie. Why would the lady say she heard it on the side of her house? If it is your phone making the noise sitting on the window ledge...Why leave a loud clock outside where a neighbor could hear it instead of bring it inside for whatever it does for him? Because it soothes him? My head's going to explode with "why's"!!

Me too!

I have a cell phone but due to my seizures, I have to have it turned to the lowest "cricket chirp" as rings can set off a grand mal seizure for me. All my kids and husband know to leave all electronics downstairs before they come up to see me. All it's taken is someone's ringtone to set off a seizure once, and they learn. Not cool to do to Mom. Therefore, I don't have a lot of experience with ringtones.

Can you set your cell to play a ringtone for an extended time--meaning he did it for the "ambiance"? Could he have chosen a tick tock sound as he likes clocks and just happened to get a phone call at the time he was entering the house? Might that have been a terrible inconvenience for him or does he have an associate?

Has anyone found an article where it specifically connects the stealing of that particular pendulum clock and the comment by the woman who hear a clock ticking before she was raped? In other words, are we sure that the woman reporting the "tick tock" heard the clock which has been shown in the press?

I just had the most awful but outrageous thought. Does he also have a ringtone of bucks rutting? I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

Does this have any interesting info? Notice the name of the company contact person. The address is listed but I don't think we have addresses for the attacks in Yoakum, do we?

I found the newspaper indictment announcements for 5-09 and Joshua was indicted for aggravated assault. I was hoping they had caught the Twilight Rapist as well as the Lubbock on, but not so sure now.

I just called in my tip concerning the Tick Tock comment on the fraternity forum about race and rape. The correct number to call is:

(866) 786-5972

They were very nice and emphasized that no tip is too small. They took my name and call back number and said that, most likely, a detective would call if he/she had further questions. You can also call with an anonymous tip.

When I first heard of this case (thanks for the heads up Ruflossn!) the first thing I thought of was the seeming growing trend of older women and younger men, and the term the media uses to define to them: cougar. There is even a site coined "The Urban Cougar" wherein people write in stories about their "experiences with a cougar" and some characterize themselves as "cougar hunters." I won't get into how offensive I find the whole thing to be, as this is neither the time nor place.

That said, the perp's choice of victims and trophies seem to bear some significance. In a sense, the clocks possibly representing father time and the age of the women, that time eventually runs out for all of us. Whereas the deer heads represent hunter's prowess. These are, of course, just one of many possibilities.

In any event, I would expect to see someone who, at first glance, seems quite normal, upstanding even. Shoot, he prolly even goes to church and is known for helping the elderly members (espeically the women). In this scenario, church members would characterize him as someone who is bright, helpful and polite. Almost to a fault, even. He would be considered "a very nice young man.."

In light of his age choice, it is possible someone that he felt close to recently passed away. This would be the stressor. I would therefore check obits for women in that age range who passed away in the December 2008 - January 2009 time frame.

All things considered, it seems that he is acting out some sort of fantasy. Also, the individual he attacked twice could be significant because he not only attacked her a second time, but did so after she had moved across town. That, in conjunction with the frequency, and his choices of trophies indicate an obsessive compulsive quality. In this context, he has to complete the act to return to stasis. What this means is, if he is unable to complete the act, those around him will see a notable personality shift involving increased agitation as time passes.

Whatever the case, I would def do a more indepth investigation of her life. This is not to say that she brought on the attack. Of course she did not. However, she may have crossed paths with him, and therefore, inadvertently ended up in his cross hairs. She's significant to him for a reason. And figuring out that reason may provide crucial clues for identifying him.

Now, about the perp? I am inclined to agree with [ame=http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4715253&postcount=66]the poster[/ame] who brought up the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch in Yoakum. I expect we'll learn that he recently aged out of the system, had experienced some form of sexual abuse by an older worker at the ranch, and is re-enacting that abuse with these women. I would not be surprised if he sees himself as actually "making love" to them.

As for finding/stalking them? I would check to see if any of the victims participate on a senior citizen web sites, perhaps even, sites that are dedicated to helping older people cope with the loss of a significant other. Maybe a site designed to provide a support system for widows or newly divorced older women.

As for other considerations? Are the women similar in shape and stature? And if so, are they small? Or are their sizes all over the place? If they are all small in stature, the rapist likely has a taste for children as well, and could very well be a registered sex offender. At the very least, he's probably engaged in deviant sexual behavior, such as peeping tom or exhibitionism. Whether he's ever been caught is of course a different story, but I would def expect to see compulsive sexual deviance in his history.

They don't have the DNA of the rapist on file, so that goes against him being a registered sex offender. Don't all sex offender have to submit their DNA?
So most likely he does not have a criminal record.
