Well, as far as the S.O. knew, anyway! (Maybe she sometimes did, and didn't tell her.)

I don't see Brianna planning to leave even if she wanted to. Her sister said that she doesn't make decisions without her mom and SO telling her what she should do. I have a high functioning ASD loved one who is not good at making plans, planning ahead to problem solve.
I wonder what she did eat while at work. Did she go without dinner? I hope it wasn't like with her cell phone where she gave her smart phone to the kids and used a burner phone for herself. Maybe she didn't eat so they could have more food. MOO

I'd think she'd bring a bag lunch from home since she only had 30 min break, and no car. Any mention of her leaving her food behind? There must be a kitchen/break room for that many employees. ?

Like Taylor said, there is plenty to be found online that they had an on again-off again relationship, and lets just say it seemed pretty off a lot of the time... wonder if the internet connections were to blame for that.

I think that the birth mom would qualify for SNAP benefits and free or reduced childcare/Headstart.

I noticed the uncomfortable, shirt shirk/hands in pockets body language too. My interpretation was she was feeling uneasy because of her surroundings. She looked back to make sure the guy wasn't following her.

I've seen a few people comment about the "hands in pockets" body language. If this weather site is correct, it was around 40 or 45 degrees with a 14 mph breeze in Amarillo around 8PM that night. She just had that hoodie/poncho on. Maybe she was just chilly.

I guess it could be a sign of a generous, open nature to consider her (SM’s) kids as “THEIR kids”, but it kinda feels presumptuous and could be overwhelming to Brianna, in a young love relationship.

As far as I’m aware, those kids are SM’s, isn’t that right?

To me, hands in pockets is generally a super relaxed thing, BUT it can be an action taken by someone uncomfortable who wants to be seen as relaxed.

I agree with others who interpreted Brianna's gait as portraying a light mood, and she moved with purpose. However, I watched the video again just now, and how she placed her hands in her pockets brought to mind a habit I've developed.

When I'm in a dodgy area, or walking at night, I keep my right hand in my pocket, clutching an open penknife, or the trigger on a small bear-spray canister.

Brianna opened the wire-mesh gate with her right hand, which could suggest it's her dominant hand, and having passed through the gate it's that right hand which she first placed in a pocket.

If she too carried protection in her hidden right hand, it could indicate apprehension about the area she was in, or whom she'd possibly arranged to meet.

Maybe, but if my SO stood me up, leaving me alone in a dark, cold parking lot, I wouldn't text 'I Love You.' ...

I'm surprised no one has brought up the possibility of human trafficking yet. This is an industrial area near highways (i think) and that's a breeding ground for grabbing people and taking off. I wonder if police have looked into cars caught on CCTV yet to see if they're linked to other crimes or registered offenders.

As for the posture, I agree with @Dre- A lot of GNC, genderqueer, trans, and other visibly LGBTQ folks tend to walk with guarded, "masculinized" posture, especially in non-confirming or unsafe spaces. I know I myself walk like she was all the time (I'm very visibly gay).

And on the topic of the video, which I'm SO glad we have now- Maybe the purpose she was walking with was one of more "I want to get some stretching in". Maybe she had a walking path thought out in her head and planned to just do a lap of the lot. And for eating on her breaks, I rarely eat on my lunch breaks. I know that might seem odd but plenty of people just don't feel like it. @Taylorbgilbert is it possible that your sister had some sort of eating problems or a poor relationship with food? if so, this may explain a theory of her going for a walk or skipping meals. I also agree with @Gobstopper that it could be a matter of feeding others and saving money for them- god knows that a lot of young "Giver" types will sacrifice their own nutritional needs for dependents.

What really gets be about this case is quite how many possibilities there are and how many puzzle peices are missing. I wish we could find that man she crossed paths with (I'm almost positive he was an employee) and ask him about that night.

Am I missing something? Her hands were in her pockets when she first left work. (cold?) also, I don't think she was in a hurry, she walked up and down the stairs instead of around. Yes, I can be lazy but I would think if she were in a hurry she would have walked around the stairs. Also, is the video showing her heading back to work? IMO

It bothers me to hear that she was the sole breadwinner for a family of four. That is overwhelming to think about.

It also shakes my initial reaction and suspicion . It kind of takes away the motive , if it meant her breadwinner would be gone.

And that is important, because although there maybe a lack motive, there is means and opportunity? Hypothetically, easy to come during the break and offer to take her for a ride, then send that 'I love You' text to yourself?

I cannot see this as being a random abduction. JMO

She went to that parking lot to meet someone. And nobody has come forward. if they have a video of her, then they have a video of cars going into that parking lot. I think they want someone to know that.

Earlier, I posted a theory about a possible overdose situation. I just want to state for the record that I have no knowledge that she is a drug user. She certainly may not be. I just want to leave no stone unturned. And it seemed like an Occam's razor kind of thing. Young lady, upset about a relationship, goes to a parking lot on break. Those are the facts I was referring to.

while I work in public benefits eligibility, the states have a wide latitude of freedom to implement the SNAP program.

Texas does have work registration rules. In CA, they're called ABAWD (able bodied adults without dependents), and having a child under age 16 will automatically exclude you from such rules, but Texas may have more restrictions.

Food stamps in CA, for the most part, usually must include everyone living under one roof. However, there are exemptions, such as people who are disabled or elderly can claim a separate household. If SM and kids were their own case, with no income or shelter expense, they could potentially qualify for max benefits for a household of three. However, if B was on the case, the income would significantly reduce issuance.

due to pandemic, CA is also issuing the max SNAP amount to all households. Example: in a household of one, with no counted income, the max is $234. If a household gets $16, CA will issue $218 mid-month.

Without knowing Texas's rules on work registration and households (and to a lesser degree, treatment of same-sex couples), it's very hard to make conclusions from afar.
