me too. it is worrisome and bizarre....
I find it worrisome as well, because Caleb's phone, non buoyant as it would have been, surely should have been recovered from the open manhole he is surmised to have fallen into when LE, on April 18th, 2024, drained that manhole  and the lift station wet well into which it emptied.

Worrisome, but not surprising.

IMO, the reason his phone has yet to be found is because it never fell into that open manhole, and neither did Caleb. Though his skeletal remains were eventually found in the wet well of the Perry Place Lift Station - and are still being recovered, per the recent report of a rib fragment having been discovered -  how they arrived there remains key.

The lift station wet well was emptied fully for recovery and investigation when Caleb's remains were initially discovered. His phone, arguably larger than a rib fragment, was not found. Because it was never there, IMO.

Coming up on a year later, I don't think the open, broken manhole is connected to Caleb's demise at all. Instead, I suspect that he ended up in the lift station wet well by another path. I doubt his phone even went with him. JMO.
