Oh, no. Right after posting the original post I found this article.

HOUSTON – On Saturday morning, Texas EquuSearch officials say they stumbled upon a body along a fence line in the 2000 block of Firnat Street.

Homicide detectives were called to investigate.

“As far as a positive ID on the body located. We do not know. We have not touched the body or searched the body,” Detective Kyle Heaverlo said.

Police say the search may be connected to Carlos Lugos. The 14-year-old was last seen about two weeks ago in the 2000 block of Tidwell Road.

“According to the mother, she had dropped her son off in the area to get together with some friends. She dropped him off [and] then never heard from him again. That was unlike him. He would call and check in with her and she said she had not heard from him in about two weeks,” Heaverlo said.

Houston Police Departments Missing Persons Unit started looking into the case and contacted Texas EquuSearch who discovered the person’s body on Saturday. Police say it is unclear if the person is a male or female.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty right now, but it’s a really unfortunate situation all the way across the board,” detectives said.

It is unclear how the person died but a neighbor who lives close to the scene says he hears gunshots on Wednesday.

“And then I was like it sounded really close and then this white Chevy pulls down the street and it is a dead end you know. Not a lot of vehicles come through here unless you live here,” the man said.

It is unclear if the body found is the missing teen and detectives say they do not know if foul play is involved.

The person’s body was taken to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy will reveal how the cause of death.

HOUSTON — A mother is left searching for answers after her 14-year-old son was found shot to death in north Houston last weekend.

Carlos Lugo had been reported missing for about two weeks before his body was found.

His mother, Rosa Lugo, wants to know what happened to him.
Carlos' body was found on Firnat Street near the Hardy Toll Road, about a mile away from where he was last seen.

Lugo said she has no idea who would hurt her son. Since his killer could still be on the streets, she didn't want to be shown on camera for this KHOU 11 News report.

She said she remembers her son as a happy, friendly kid with lots of energy. On Monday, his friends gathered near his school to honor him.

Lugo said she's thankful that Texas EquuSearch was able to help find her child's body. She also expressed gratitude for the support she's received from the community. But, she said, there's a deep void left behind in the wake of Carlos' death.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An 18-year-old man is facing another murder charge months after authorities found a missing teenager's body in a field back in February.

Zourian Stephon Lewis was already in custody, sitting in the Harris County Jail for an unrelated killing, when he was charged on June 3 with Carlos Lugo's murder.

********
Lugo was allegedly Lewis' co-conspirator during an attempted car theft with a group of teens that turned deadly in November, according to investigators.

According to details ABC13 learned in court, Lewis and three teen suspects were in an apartment complex parking lot near the South Loop, checking cars for unlocked doors, then going through the vehicles that were left open.

Lewis is accused of killing a man who tried to stop the teens from breaking into his girlfriend's vehicle at Buffalo Speedway on Nov. 17, 2022.

Lewis allegedly told family members, while he was in jail on a misdemeanor evading charge, that Lugo was talking to police.

On Jan. 13, Lewis was released from jail. Eight days later, Lugo's mother reported him missing.
