The map on Kelly Smith Twitter shows the area was very close to th start of a hiking trail. Big Cedar Wilderness DORBA Trail. Hopefully they have cameras, there must be a parking area in close proximity

“She walked down the street and saw a blanket over a body in the middle of the road. She said that at one point the blanket fell off and she saw blood and what looked like bite marks on the toddler’s face.”

“Later that morning, she saw a relative of the toddler come out and look at the body, before leaving back for their home close by.

What does that mean? They now know who the baby is and where he lived? HOW the He!! does this happen? A 4 yr old is murdered in the street in front of his home?

How did she know that was a relative?

Maybe she recognized the child and knew which neighbors he belonged to. I break down seeing a pet laying dead in the middle of the road, I can’t imagine finding a toddler in that state :(

Dogs? Maybe that's how the toddler ended up left in the street?

:( Guess not dogs- update from OP article says:

"... [Asst. Chief] Martinez did not provide details about how the child was killed, but said police believe an "edged weapon" was used. ..."

There is a wilderness area up the street. I suppose there could be wild animals there? I'd think that police would know the difference between bite/claw marks and an "edged weapon", as they described it, though.

What kind of house of horrors did this babe live in, where his relative would not even cradle him in their arms but instead left him in the street?
Did that actually happen, or was that very bad reporting?

Or maybe the Babe crawled out of bed,got out while brutalizers were sleeping, and their little body couldn't make it to a neighbor for help. MOO

the lady who found him thought it was a dog at first. Once she got close enough and realized it was a child, she noticed his feet were apparently covered in ants. IMO that means he had been deceased for a while. Possibly buried and dug up by an animal, which could mean the apparent bite marks to his face could have been either by insects or an animal. A broken glass bottle could also leave marks that would look like bite marks

EXACTLY. Even if your toddler wandered out in the middle of the night & met foul play, a normal person would scoop him up & cling to him.
Unfortunately, guessing he didn’t just wander out. imho

Or could have been there 5 minutes. Like when your popsicle drops on the ground & is covered in ants long before melting even begins.
