Found Deceased TX - Cedric Jackson, 18 months, Dallas, 9 July 2019 *Arrests*

Just read a news story about this case. Heartbroken to learn Cedric was removed from parental custody and placed with an aunt, only to end up dead in a landfill :(
When is the senseless slaughter of children going to end?

I'm not surprised at little Cedric's fussing and crying about the swaddling. babies commonly outgrow swaddling between 3--6 months of age.
Why were they still swaddling him? And the ketchup incident -- did Cedric "make a mess with ketchup" in the bed? Did that little boy take the ketchup to bed because he was still hungry? If so, why didn't they just fed him a bit more and forego the damn swaddling on a child who no longer needs it and who doesn't like it. SMH. Doesn't make sense. IMO. Grrrrrr.
Personally I think the uncle is using the ketchup thing as an excuse. IMO this sweet boy was wrapped up because he couldn't be bothered caring for him.

IMO, he just slithered in there.
Possibly a CPS cold visit might find him there, but maybe not.

Any decent home visit, you check the closets and bathrooms. Men leave their stuff all over. The CPS worker would have known. Shrug. Probably wrote a fake home visit report.

The problem is that honest people who work for CPS, get dogged, because they can't "visit" as many homes and kids as the "rockstar" workers, who fake half their work. So, good people get put on "corrective action" because they can't keep up with the work. Because, they are compared to people who fake half their work.

It is a mess.

They might not have known. We keep hearing that many CPS workers give the clients 'notice' that they are coming to visit on a certain day. And I do understand why they might need to, if they have only limited time and too many cases to work.

But if the clients know when the social workers are coming, they can hide the drugs and the criminal boyfriends and clean the apartment and stock some food in the pantry before their arrival.

I feel like there's probably no "win" in this situation, because it similarly seems possible that if CPS never said when they were coming, the families might always "miss" CPS; or simply hide in the house and not answer the door for multiple checkpoint visits in a row, pretending not to be home ("oh, sorry! We just went out to the park/library/store"). Then the kids might get skipped for necessary weeks or months, during which who knows what could be going on.

My guess is that it's because she is raising 5 other young children. And they need to figure out what to do with them all. They are probably in CPS right now, but ...?

Six other young children!

I’m seeing lots of people calling him Cedrick.

According to the mom’s *** and the dad’s entirely separate ***, the baby’s name is spelled Cedric. Some media are saying Cedrick but that is not correct. I think they are just getting confused and combining his name with his killer’s since that guy does have a k on the end of his name. Ironic that they have what appears to be the same name.

Can we correct Cedric’s name in the title of the thread?

Edit: the *** are the initials of a certain platform for raising cash. Not trying to encourage anyone to donate just referencing it because they were started by the parents and have his name spelled that way.

I started the thread based on the first news story that came out. I'll alert a mod.

Can’t imagine how traumatized that poor girl is because it sounds like she witnessed it all.
Yes, it does. And who knoze what else she witnessed...

I can't help but wonder what was so wrong in Cedric's mom's life that she was "okay" with putting him into that toxic environment. Certainly she knew the home situation.
Thomas told WFAA that Cedric was placed in his aunt's custody by CPS but not against her will.

"We were OK with that," Thomas said. "There were issues that I had to deal with to become a better mother."
18-month-old boy at center of Amber Alert is dead, family and police sources say

As my late mother used to say "Water finds it's own level." Sigh.

That might be state specific. My friends do foster care and they all say that the workers only look in closets when it is a visit to certify the home each year when it is time to renew the license. They look in the foster child’s room and that’s it. However, he had only been there since end of May and chances are more likely than not that they hadn’t even had a home visit yet. They should happen every month but they are usually less frequent due to staffing.

Thanks! Yeah, I assumed that it’s just based on whatever the media says.

The mom’s fundraiser was up within an hour of the presser today. Smh.

"swaddled the child nightly to restrict the toddler’s movements"
...
"Cedric started throwing up"
...
"he performed CPR for at least 30 minutes but Cedric did not wake up"

I wonder if the poor little guy asphyxiated on vomit and was already gone. Also, who doesn't call 911 the instant a baby isn't breathing? My opinion is, everything but "swaddled nightly" is a lie.
Yep.
Who doesn't call 911?
Someone who knows the child is already dead, or
Someone who doesn't want LE or 911/EMT at the residence, or
Someone who doesn't want LE or 911/EMT to know that the little boy has been temporarily disabled due to the cruelty of the swaddling, or
Someone who doesn't want CPS to know he is living in the house -- and who doesn't want a visit by CPS anytime soon, or
Someone who doesn't want to tangle with LE again since he already has a record.

I'm hoping little Cedric is running around, laughing and having ice cream every now and every day.

Dang when we filed a petition asking for our grandson to be declared a CINC and to be permanently legally be with us. We already had , had him almost 2 years but had no legal rights if his mother wanted drug money etc. she would threaten to take him every time she was mad. We couldn’t risk that. Anyway CPS was never involved . However we got a lawyer we were required to hire a lawyer to represent the child.

The lawyer for the child came to our house a few times some unannounced. To “visit with the baby” she checked our house which I didn’t expect. But I was glad it meant they were doing the best for him. She even looked through his living space (room) checked out his crib. Opened drawers to see his clothing. Even looked at his toys. Made comments about “learning toys” and age geared toys. Noted they were clean and safe . She even commented that she was very impressed that he had a book shelf with toddler aimed books. clothing for all seasons. She looked briefly in our daughters room. She checked for child locks etc. we have a tall gate mounted to keep the kitchen off limits. But she noted healthy snacks clean kitchen house smoke alarms etc.

We even had to pay for back ground checks. They checked our finances to show that we could afford the child ( not a cps case so no state aide for his care). They asked permission to visit with our dr to make sure we were healthy enough to take on a young child. They visited with our remaining child at home’s pediatrician and even her school. To verify with the dr she had been seen regularly if there were concerns ever. Checked if the school had concerns and her attendance history. Credit checks. We were told we needed drug tests but I have a CDL and had just had one recently. My husband had one for his job just weeks before. But they straight up told us if we would of waited for cps to take him and then do a family placement we wouldn’t of been put through half of this stuff. It honestly was totally overwhelming to be put under basically a microscope. This was all just done by the child’s lawyer to show what was his best interest. I was mind blown that cps wouldn’t of done much more then a walkthrough but often if it’s family they fail to do that.

This totally blows my mind after all we went through that more wasn’t done for the baby.

However at least in our state. This little guys parents could of willingly signed that they wanted him placed with the aunt. So at least here if the parents don’t contest it they don’t do any checks of the new guardians home. We never even asked our daughter to sign him over. We feared asking her would cause her to take him from us and run.

Ugh that just made me so sick. It was started by the dad’s (and aunts) brother and he actually states Cedric was and kidnapped and murdered!
