Did he have a rental car? Is it missing?

If he was last seen outside the hotel, could he have suffered a diabetic shock (not sure what that's called) and wandered off?

I don't sense foul play, but this doesn't sound good. I hope they have scoured the area around the hotel and in the hotel itself.

Many (not all but many) persons with diabetes now have insulin pumps. Meaning they can go a week or more without accessing their insulin supply if they have enough in the pump reservoir.
What type of neighborhood is the hotel in?
I'm assuming contractor for the local government- it was a fairly decent hotel.
Cell phone pings? Did he have Uber or Lyft on his phone? Any other CCTV sightings?

I would think it would have been mentioned if he had the pump type insulin. More likely he is taking injections and meds for the diabetes and he did not have it with him, Perhaps it was found in the hotel room

I tried googling it on Maps and it will only let me go to The Buffalo Bayou Park. The bayou (and water) itself is quite close to the Sam Houston Hotel.

Shared route
From The Sam Houston Hotel to N. York at Hirsh, Houston via I-10 E.

Hard to say where he may have gone in but I suspect the body was carried east in the bayou by heavy rain and wind.

According to the video posted by Spellbound, authorities say it appeared he drowned but they won't make a definite statement until an autopsy is completed.

What is it with depressed men (don't know that he was depressed) and suicide (don't know that for a fact...yet) and water?!

Hopefully the police check his phone data even if they suspect suicide. There has been some discussion in Houston about male bodies being recovered in the bayous for a few years.
