As much as I believe that the odds that EA is being honest are remote (like lottery ticket remote) IMO, I really don't see him hiring an attorney is a red flag. And yes, many people have been released from death row through 'later to be learned facts'. All it takes is abundant 'circumstantial' evidence, overly helpful but erroneous witnesses or sometimes an overly ambitious cop creating or suppressing evidence.I don't know enough about the American legal system to be sure but how likely is it that with all the modern methods of DNA testing, phone tracking etc someone would be wrongly convicted of a crime like this. Is the risk great enough to hire a very expensive lawyer before LE have even indicated that a crime has been committed.
Genuine question I would never do this for my son but want to gauge what would be reasonable for an American parent.
