Yep! The phone pings when shut off and sends a different type of ping as it shuts down from a dead battery. If they got access to the records they would be able to determine whether it was shut down manually or if it was due to battery.

Thank you! Could you say anything about the factory restore setting? Would he really be able to entirely delete all the data? I remember you said you worked at a phone store.

This says completely opposite and has multiple sources of reference of various experimentation and university studies that prove it is in fact real

From the same article above, very interesting :

Ethnicity and Gender

In addition to eye movement being inconsistent with speech cues, ethnicity and gender may also have an impact on assessing credibility and deception.17 Julie Lavigne, in a presentation to the American Psychological Association 2008 Convention, suggests that interactions between police officers and ethnic minorities are likely to be challenging. Interactions are characterized by mutual distrust and misinterpretation of cues, as well as misunderstandings regarding the actual meaning of the behavior exhibited.18

Ethnic and culture-related behaviors can be compounded with cues one uses to detect lies and might be misinterpreted by police officers as an attempt at lying even when the person questioned is not engaging in deception. Although research has shown that ethnic groups influence one’s own nonverbal behavior during interactions with others, few studies have examined the influence of ethnic groups on behavioral cues to deception. The lack of insights about the effects of ethnic groups on deceptive behavior is particularly striking . . . . Behavioral cues to deception are influenced both by individual (that is, ethnic groups) and contextual (that is, phase of investigation) factors. For this reason, detecting a suspect’s deception by means of their behavior is likely to be challenging and misleading for police and scholars.

Correct, but to say it is a complete myth is incorrect. Also, in the beginning of the uncut interview just like a polygraph a certain tone and answering technique was ascertained. His body language and eyes completely shifted when the real questions were starting to be asked thus showing deception

Ummm I think you mean someone else, I never said it was a myth. I was commenting on further into the article about gender & ethnicity. That part is very true and have seen that used.

Have you read the other threads on Christina and her boyfriend trying to speak w her? We went over what we knew... Might help if you took a look.

More or less, it hasn't been proven that HF didn't try to call Christina or EA.
What's mostly been said is EAs phone was used to contact HF.
Hope that helps....

Thank you. But Iam still mad at the boyfriend for not reporting her missing for 4 days . Enjoy your day now.

Is anyone a phone expert? I'd really like to know if there's a technical way to tell if a phone is actively switched off or just runs out of battery. I agree that someone who works in a phone shop is probably really into his phone and would be less likely not to charge it but maybe he was distracted that night.

Haha.. I'm sure no phone expert.. I still use a flip-phone & could count on 1 hand how many times I have sent a text to someone...

I was mad at him too. I have made peace with the situation by reading the VI's comments on the BF. I think there is a full picture and clarifying information that we just don't know at this point, so I have let it go.

Even on this site I often think people could be individuals associated with EA or people who were there that night or many other options. To be investigating or searching and not be totally sure who knows what has to be a creepy feeling at times.

Agree 100%..

Maybe one of the "friends" will find their way here, there...anywhere and help Christina's family find her!
Let's not lose focus...Christina!

My guess is they can't, hence the bashing of innocent others. Very unfortunate. Glad this site doesn't allow that kind of behavior. I've learned a lot from you all and the VIs.

Phone going off makes an interesting twist.

I agree the phone being turned off is very interesting. It adds to the information that we have gotten so far, and the phone being turned off does not help EA's plea of innocence. IMO

Sooo.. turning off phone.. to block incoming calls, texts .. or did he think that would disguise his location...? Reason?

I'm guessing the latter? Maybe he was making a drug run? Maybe he does that a lot.....turns off his phone so it can be traced anywhere? Which would indicate illegal activity of some sort. I really don't know.

IDK, did the fight already happen just before turning off his phone, or he wanted her undivided attention at that moment bc of obsession with her and then things turned sour. Just a couple thoughts I had about it.

I talked about the Trip Tunnels in Allen a long time ago and I know we can't talk about specific places that are or have been searched, but I hope they have been checked in to. I saw another website that was written by some guy who went "exploring" drain tunnels in the area, and it was crazy because he had pictures of them and everything. He only briefly mentioned Allen, but had a big list of others in the area. He talked about some of them expanding into huge room-like areas far back into them. I'm not sure how accessible the ones in Allen are, like if you could easily go from a car into them, but still it might have been a place to dump of her belongings or hide something temporarily. In Allen, I know that one entrance is off Bethany.

**Here is the link to the guy's site I had found before in case ya'll are interested. Some of these are creepy. I can't imagine people enjoying exploring these, much less partying in them, but in Allen they were known for that. I first read about them on an Allen fb page.

Maybe his phone died too. We know Christina's phone died thats why the last text message and last ping on her phone was in that parking garage.
He would have had a phone charger in his car and he had a different phone so she would not be able to charge her phone and he would. We know the time he was seen exiting the parking garage is 3:58 and he went a completely different way then he reported to police so yes it is very likely he turned it off so his phone would not ping. If that is the case then maybe whatever happened did happen immediately upon them leaving and within the 11 mins time it took him to get through the custer toll gantry. Maybe that route needs to be searched again.

Multiple apps on a phone keep a constant log of your gps location and others ping towers as well. Being a phone guy, he probably was well aware of that
