GUILTY TX - Christina Morris, 23, Plano, 30 August 2014 - #41 *Arrest*

I will be sending prayers there way. I have found remains before and I understand what they are going through once you see something you cannot unsee it. It's a very hard situation to come to terms with especially when they unexpectedly found her. If they continue to struggle please have them reach out to a professional to talk with. If they do not want to do that and would like to reach out to me you can direct message me and I will give you my contact information. I belong to Rapid Search and Rescue, I am not a therapist but we extensively have discussions after remains are found to work through things together. I would be more than happy to do that with them as well.

Thank you! They’ve been praying for Christina , and her family. They were freaked out at first, then sad. I think they’re doing ok. They are both good ol country boys. I think in time, they’ll be ok. Just such a shock to find something so grisly while out doing your job.

I wonder how EA is handling the news?

Hopefully he’s suffocating on the news, but with his narcissistic personality, I doubt her discovery has fazed him.

We need to educate people, men and women, to spot narcissists like EA before it's too late.

Will all of you do me a favor? If you’re the praying kind, please pray for my two cousins. They are the guys who found her yesterday. They are deeply heartbroken.

How are your cousins doing today ?

I certainly will. I completely understand that they are heartbroken, but they also gave Christina's family an amazing thing. They now have their Christina and she isn't lying abandoned. Sending love to all involved.

It's not funny in itself, it became a trademark of SteveS's in the threads following EA's arrest and trial, you probably had to be there

I *was* there in the threads. Still not seeing how it is funny.
RIP. Christina.

I've been off here for a few days. I came back looking for resolution on 4 or 5 other cases and certainly didn't expect Christina's would come almost full circle. ("Almost" because that ******* EA may have a reckoning coming his way.) With dawn coming soon that morning I didn't expect EA to go more than 30 minutes to an hour away but that is a LARGE radius to search.

While I'm glad there are remains found for the family, I'm still sad this is the ending. But I really didn't expect anything different.

Investigators will now want to learn the cause and manner of death. An attorney not connected to the case explained that may help build a murder case against Enrique Arochi, who is serving a life sentence for kidnapping #ChristinaMorris. Details here:

What’s next for Arochi?

Toby Shook, a former long-time Dallas County prosecutor who is now a defense attorney, has followed the case closely. He said it's doubtful prosecutors can pursue a capital murder charge and go for the death penalty against Arochi because he's already been convicted of kidnapping -- the portion of the charge that would elevate a new charge to capital murder.

“Since he has been found guilty of aggravated kidnapping, that prevents them from going with capital because the aggravating factor being kidnapping,” Shook said.

Shook says investigators will now want to learn the cause and manner of death, if possible. He said having hard evidence should make it easier to build a murder case.

Arochi, 27, is eligible for parole in 30 years and is appealing his life sentence.

Shook said pursuing a murder charge could give prosecutors leverage to get a plea deal so Arochi drops his appeal. Or, if they get a conviction, request he serves his sentences consecutively so he's never eligible for parole.

“They want the truth to come out and they want Arochi to take responsibility for what happened and finding the body may be the key to making that happen,” Shook said.

I wouldn't count on it; if prosecutors can find a way to charge him with capital murder, they will.

If they can find a way....

I heard several interviews of the same as it relates to capital murder. If they could prove sexual assault or another crime, would that open the door for a capital murder charge?

Is kidnapping the only aggravating circumstance there? Seems unlikely being that it's Texas. I would think that there would be other options to charge him with that might elevate it. Now whether they can prove any of them after this long is another story entirely.

they might want to talk to someone about it ... trauma therapist, pastor, or someone who specializes in PTSD ... the experience could haunt them later in life or affect their sleep etc. {hugs} to them

...

Criminal defense attorney Tim Powers said it’s possible Arochi could now face a murder charge.

“He would arguably be out when he is about 50-something years old. So, what they would be looking to do is get another life sentence,” he said.

Powers said he thinks prosecutors are already in possession of strong evidence that could lead to a conviction.

“Cell phone records place him in Anna or that general area in that period of time shortly after her disappearance,” he said.

Police said they’ll release more information on the case as it moves forward.

I think finding cause and manner of death to be unlikely...much less evidence of sex assault. Unless a weapon of some sort was used and evidence still remains. But if they can prove these things, it would be worth it to make sure he never gets parole by some freaky chance.

I think they can prove murder, which could add another life sentence. It would take proving murder plus another crime (other than kidnapping) to get a capital conviction. I have no doubt they will at the least charge him for murder, and if they can find a way to prove anything else, they will go for capital murder, which can carry the DP in Texas. This PD and DA are highly invested, which I find very admirable.

Investigators are building a murder case after Wednesday’s discovery of human remains ruled Thursday to be those of Christina Morris...much of the same kidnapping evidence will be used in a new murder case against Arochi, said long time prosecutor and criminal defense attorney Toby Shook.

The attorney said a capital murder charge with a possible death sentence in a new case is not likely for Arochi since he’s already been tried for kidnapping. Charging for that again would be required for a capital case but that is forbidden by double jeopardy rules.
However, a new murder conviction could bring a second life prison sentence.

New article this morning:

"ANNA -- Volunteers looking for kidnap victim Christina Morris had searched three times in the wooded area where she was eventually found. Police searched there several times, too.
So when a work crew spotted her skeletal remains in plain sight on Wednesday, the heartbroken searchers couldn't help but ask themselves: "How did we miss her?"

"We were right there," said Robert O'Neil, one of the coordinators for the dedicated group of searchers known as Team Christina. "There's gotta be more to it than we just missed her ... we were very thorough in our searches."

Police closed off the area to the public for three days while collecting evidence. They were expected to finish late Friday. Details about what they've found are not being released.

Morris was last seen on surveillance video entering a Plano parking garage with acquaintance Enrique Arochi in the early morning hours of Aug. 30, 2014. Arochi was convicted in 2016 of her aggravated kidnapping and sentenced to life in prison. His case is on appeal.

"We are Team Christina," member Beverly Lillie said, "and we will always be Team Christina."
