Wichita Falls District Judge Bob Brotherton sentenced Robert Alvarado to a maximum sentence of 20 years in the Texas penitentiary for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence for covering up the killing of his daughter-in-law... Alvarado pled guilty to the charge for which he was sentenced...

Testimony elicited during the sentencing hearing included the fact that Robert Alvarado dug a grave with his son Jonathan into which they then placed the body of Jonathan's wife, Danielle. According to Robert, it took the father and son approximately an hour to dig the grave where they placed her body several days after her death.

A second death occurred in May of 2011 when Jonathan Alvarado hanged himself. His father was the person who found him.
