AGREE, mothers of this variety should never have had children if their priorities are so screwed up they will risk their children's lives because they are loath to end it with a boyfriend, even after they've seen evidence those boyfriends are abusing their kids. I hate that we keep seeing these cases over and over. Just don't have kids or give them up to parents who want to put their needs first if you can't.

Birth control is free and simple to obtain. Yet we continue to see these women who move from relationship to relationship, having kids with each new man they are with.

IMO, they are missing something the rest of us have. There is no instinct to protect, no maternal feeling of love or responsibility to see the child thrive.

People can say the idea of marriage is antiquated, just a piece of meaningless paper. But the premise behind it is the real importance. Children thrive in secure stable environments. When that isn’t modeled, something is lost.

i see some maternal instinct in the texts accusing the bf of abusing her son. but obviously it wasn't strong enough or was subverted by something else.

frankly, with or without children in the picture, the story of a woman feeling uncontrollable attraction or attachment to an abusive man is all too familiar, and always enables further abuse.

ironically, it's possible her irrational attachment to him was fueled by a need for security that came partly from having a child to take care of.

i dunno.... I -sortof- don't give a shite about Alexander. A waste of a human being all around. Just throw him out.

But this mother. She is what is making me so angry. She knew and she totally failed to protect her adorable innocent child.

That "deer in the headlights" image of her just makes me so ill.
