Some more timeline details at: Corpus Christi Crónica

Kingsville PD has informed his son that Dr. Wu’s vehicle was captured on camera at 5:30pm Friday (10/2) in Laredo and then at 7:00pm in Hebbronville. There is a 7 hour gap and then his van was captured by Space X satellite crashed in the Rio Grande Boca Chica National Seashore area, approximately 200 FEET from the Mexican Border.

The source also states that a large sum has been taken out of his account prior to his disappearance and a check was deposited to an unnown bank account.

His phone is off. His vehicle was found locked and empty. SAR is in the area.

uh oh... so his vehicle was captured but the driver could not be confirmed as Dr. Wu? Also very interesting to note that the money was taken out and deposited before he actually disappeared; do they mean before Thursday 4:45 pm, when he was last seen in-person, or before he was reported missing? I am currently doubting that it was Dr. Wu that removed that money, if it's the latter.
If he was indeed hypoglycemic (or hyper), I've never heard of sufferers becoming delusional to the point of taking money and running to Mexico. I really doubt that this physical condition could have carried on to Friday, with him still well enough to drive. And he only has diabetes? No dementia or cognitive decline? He was working as a professor so I'm guessing he was mentally sharp.
Very sad, foul play sounds more and more likely :( hope I am wrong.
(If something did happen to him on Thursday, I'm wondering why the perp would have stayed in the Hebbronville area for another day before abandoning the car?)

The time of the deposit isn't listed in that source, but another source gives the time for a check being cashed (search fb for "hyutzen wu check").

ETA: His university department also posted the same info: Texas A&M University-Kingsville Dept. of Psychology Sociology & Criminology

The check for a large sum of money was cashed at 2am Saturday.

The cashing of the check coincides with the time when his van was found (Friday 7pm + 7 hours).

Oh no. The case update says Dr. Wu’s body was located at Boca Chica Beach, near Brownsville, TX. No other details given. I wonder what happened?

Very interesting information. When I searched Facebook with that phrase, it showed up under "Photos."

Who in the world cashes a very large check at 2am?!

Perhaps it means deposited? You can do that 24/7 in ATMs and by taking a pic of the check in some cases.

Rest in peace Dr. Wu <3 Thoughts with his family and colleagues. If you go to the FB link above where his death was announced, a couple of his students have commented as well. Seemed like a really good guy.

Professor's death a shock to Texas A&M University-Kingsville community
"McGee said he and other students had discussed the possibility of holding a candlelight vigil, but no plans had been finalized yet."
Question: the police statement was he was located at Boca Chica beach, and some sources have taken that and written "on the beach"; was he actually found on the physical beach or just in that area? I'm guessing more details will be released soon.

Corpus Christi Crónica reported that his van was found 200 feet from the Mexican border. Source below states that he was found along with his vehicle at Boca Chica Beach near the Space-X facility. Previous reports claimed that he was not in the vehicle. I'm not sure if the stated distance to the border is accurate, because Space-X control and launch sites are further (at least a couple of miles) away from it.

No foul play suspected in death of Texas A&M Kingsville math professor
Really?? No foul play? I'm mega confused. Again, I'm finding it hard to believe that he had such noticeable blood sugar problems on Thursday and was still functional and DRIVING by Friday, if its insinuating he died due to his diabetes. When I hear 'confusion and erratic behaviors' in cases I often think drug use, but I just don't see that with respect to a 74 y/o respected professor...

Seems pretty odd to me. I hope there's video of all the bank activity and that this "unknown account" becomes known.

No foul play??
Rest peacefully, Dr. Wu.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Hoping this is not a case of him being scammed out of a large sum of money.

Hoping this is a case of details coming in dribs and drabs and not really having all the information yet because otherwise... what the what?

That's what I think it is as well, they haven't even done an autopsy yet, they're just basing their no foul play feeling on the fact that he had "no visible injuries". Hope the autopsy provides some answers. How long does it typically take for an autopsy to be done, a week? Or longer? I know toxicology takes a good amount of time as well.
This case has attracted a good amount of coverage and press, and a lot of his colleagues seem eager for answers, so I am hoping that further details are released publicly.
And I'm with you @evilwise , I don't think the full story will be revealed until we know where that money ended up.
