TX - Dr. Mark Hausknecht, 65, Physician to GHW Bush killed in bicycle drive-by shooting, Houston

THANK GOODNESS this is over. This suspect was EXTREMELY dangerous with his skill and knowledge of LE resources. Poor Dr. Hausknecht was the first to die on the so called hit list, and it is just fortunate that no other murders were committed before the suspect ended his life. At least, I HOPE no other people have died because of this “injustice collector”.

I completely share your sentiments.

Police Chief Acevedo says they have Metro bus cam footage of the actual murder.
How utterly horrifying.
I read a comment on another site written by someone who knew Dr. Hausknecht. The commenter said watching the other video the public saw of JP following the doctor on the bike was so difficult because she just wanted to pull him off of the video to save him. This other video, which hopefully will NEVER be released to the public, is just awful, as is this whole case.

Since it's said to be a long time friend, I tend to assume it could be the same friend as the one named Herd who knew him since high school. That friend, Herd, has said, "Never in a million years would I have thought it was him".
Man wanted in Bush doctor's slaying used to work in law enforcement
(but given his knowledge about the hit list, this is a bit doubtful)

I take that back. It was a different friend:

Home surveillance captures the scene showing two individuals interacting which are likely the park employee and Pappas. Pity the images of the individuals are too tiny:

Family members claim JP forbade them from attending his mother's funeral and had a falling out with his sister because he wouldn't allow her to collect keepsakes from their parents house. So he has the sister but he was the one who inherited the house and then left it to somebody unrelated.
By the way doctor's family could likely sue his estate for wrongful death and get that house, although I doubt they would do it.

Quite possibly the picture of the suspect getting away on his bike after the shooting was from the said footage.

I am pretty sure those images were from residential security camera.

I was referring to this picture (was it before or after the murder?):

This case is a reminder of the Canadian case of Nathan O'Brien and his grandparents being murdered by Douglas Garland 4 years ago. Both murderers were bachelors in their 60s, estranged from their only sisters, acted on grudges from decades ago after collecting detailed info about the victims.

Snipped by me.
The “bizarre twist” with the neighbor of Dr. H is a bit curious. This is the gentleman who was interviewed in an earlier news report handing out posters and money to panhandlers in the Med Center area before the suspect was identified. The posters had the artist’s sketch of the shooter. The story linked above interviews the same gentleman again, this time he is saying it turns out he is a neighbor of the gunman JP, and actually worked for him as a consultant last year. Strange coincidence.

I believe that is JP AFTER the murder, as he is heading west on Southgate, less than a block from Main. The angle does not seem to be from a bus cam though. I am thinking perhaps a parking garage cam?

Texas law does not allow this

strange that he left no note and/or manifesto explaining his motivations

Thas's a good point, Jim G.

I think kinda did. His method of explaining what he did was to spill the entire plan to his friend, who didn't bother to tell anyone, including police, who could have warned or protected the people including the now deceased Doctor.
Now that the friend talking, JP has made himself famous. Everybody knows how he planned and justified what he did.

From two ex-officers who used to work with Pappas II and his father:

"What I remember about the Pappas' is how jovial they were. They were always nice and in an upbeat type mood. Never saw them down."

"When she [the wife/mother] passed, they both took it pretty hard, husband and son."

Actually he did. From what has been reported, he left "last will and testament." It just hasn't been made public (yet).

Not just kinda. He left "last will and testament."

This comparison was done by the person whose name is in the bottom right corner. She is on another forum I am a part of. It is interesting to see side by side.

Just to clarify, a “last will & testament” is different from a “manifesto”. I think in terms of motives and what JP was thinking for the past 20 years, a manifesto would ave given more insight, especially since his plans apparently were to have great impact on the public.

What Is the Meaning of Last Will & Testament?
From the link above:
A last will and testament is a legal document that conveys the final wishes of a decedent for the administration and division of his estate after passing.

Manifesto dictionary definition | manifesto defined
From the link immediately above:
The definition of a manifesto is a public declaration of a plan that will affect the public
