I agree with many of you..... a young girl is reported missing, the last person to see her was CONVICTED of hurting his own child, served 12 years and LE believed him. They should have jumped on him right away, the video from the hotel should have been reviewed day l.

Has it been stated somewhere what line of work he was in?

His son's FB page states that he (the son) is an "independent contractor" of some kind. And with Salinas' record (12 years?), I'd bet that he's an "independent contractor" too. There are a lot of well-known corners in every city of Texas where companies pick up un-documented workers and pay them cash. I'd bet that's what Salinas did - just worked odd jobs roofing, construction, painting, ditch digging (no kidding!), etc.

Do we have vehicle information on him?

I totally, 100 percent, I stand here in conviction, my belief in this will not change, ... THEY SHOULD OF CHECKED THE TAPES - earlier.

If all else, if ANYTHING else, so her mother wouldn't grieve and worry about where her child was. To make a mother wait that long,.... that long before a real strong lead appeared.... unacceptable.

I will believe this forever. This will not change.

I know we all have our varying opinions but when I base mine I usually do it in the sense "What if this was my child?"

ITA, sadly women and children appear to have no value and are treated as such when they "disappear".

I've been asking that for a while but it has not been posted anywhere.
That vehicle better be sitting in LE's garage right now. Salinas had quite a bit of time to clean it too.

Plus no word on the room at the hotel being gone over for forensic evidence.
Like maybe the pillow that could have been used to suffocate her or something.

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock police are not shrinking in shame after harsh public criticism of their handling of a missing teenager who later turned out to be a murder victim. Instead, police spokesman, Captain Greg Stevens, says his fellow officers did a great job on the case.

~~~
But here is perhaps the more salient issue for many. Even if police had reviewed surveillance video from the Carriage House on the night of her disappearance, "It would not have changed the outcome," Stevens said.
By the time Elizabeth's mother called police, "We believe that she was already a homicide victim ... and that's unfortunate."
~~~

Should police have looked at Salinas' criminal history on the night of Elizabeth's disappearance? She was last seen babysitting for Salinas' children in the Carriage House motel.

Stevens said Salinas fooled everyone at first. "The mother very much trusted this individual," Stevens said. According to Stevens, the mother believed Salinas was telling the truth, so that led the initial officers to also believe he was telling the truth.

In retrospect, Stevens says Salinas was only cooperating with police on the night of Elizabeth's disappearance to deceive everyone.

~~

Will Lubbock police change the way they handle missing kids? "That's a great question actually," Stevens said. "Each missing person's case that we go on is evaluated on its own merits."

BBM..Sorry but it is what it is...I grew up there, went through grade school, Junior High and graduated from High School there... attended University there and in my ever so humble opinion the answer to the above bbm question is quite simply, No. No they will not, nothing will change, nothing ever has and nothing ever will.
IMO LPD and Lubbock City Gov are the most arrogant and corrupt organizations in the entire State of Texas. Anyone who lives there will tell this is true. Sorry...not intending to provoke anyone or insult anyone if you have family that works for LPD or City of Lubbock...just expressing my opinion.

Hah, since when do the cops just trustingly believe women and ex cons with a violent history against women! In the online paper the captain is quoted as saying that Salinas sent them in an alternate direction with the story about his son. Supposedly the evidence shows that she was killed right away before Salinas went to E.'s Mom's.

Where did the horrid details of the condition of the body go?

I saw it, now I cant find it.

Was there mention of a suitcase?

And nobody in that police department had their bull**** detector go off or their hinky meter?
Takes about fives minutes for people on these forums to think something smells with a lot of these cases.

I am not a believer in conspiracies but I still think it would have been prudent to have an outside ME handle the autopsy and time of death. If ever a department had reason to wish for a particular time of death to be determined, this one does.

I have lived in Lubbock most of my life.
The city council are crooks, the appraisal district employees are criminally crooks, the judges are good the DA is good the PD depends on who is assigned your case.
We just fired a new police officer for sexual assault on his adopted teenage daughter. A Jr Hi science teacher was busted for selling Hydro Marijuana (very potent and has to be grown inside).
Lubbock used to be much safer when I was a child. I have seen crimes of all kinds and some we never had a problem with when I was a kid appear in our little conservative community.

OK, well now I am paranoid about whether they will get the ME to say what they want...

Our ME is outside the PD and independent of the police department.

Amazing....I see more anger here against the police and detectives than I do for the 🤬🤬🤬 that murdered Elizabeth. :innocent:

  • #678
I think the anger toward LE in this case stems from the possibility, however slight, that maybe Elizabeth could have been saved. It is at least possible he did not kill her that first night, although I think he probably did.

Stevens said it's not their policy to run a criminal history on every person they talk to. It was only when detectives began to think that Salinas had lied to them about what he had seen and heard that night that officers looked into his background.

http://www.kcbd.com/Global/story.asp?S=13912851

Well IMO it should be policy in every missing person case. Crimes might get solved a whole lot sooner if they know who they are dealing with right off the bat.
