GUILTY TX - Elizabeth Ennen, 15, Lubbock, 5 January 2011

I started thinking with Hailey Dunn's case, and now especially with this case, that we need a separate federal agency like the FBI that comes in immediately and assesses "runaway cases" and organizes local LE so that these cases get immediate attention. The Amber Alert was obviously not enough.

I agree that somehow LE needs to figure out a better way to deal with first reports, but until there are fewer than however many tens of thousands per day reported missing, I am not seeing a great change coming in the near future.

I think the anger toward LE in this case stems from the possibility, however slight, that maybe Elizabeth could have been saved. It is at least possible he did not kill her that first night, although I think he probably did.

For me personally, I don't know if she could have been saved. I doubt it.

My issue is that there was 3 weeks for evidence to deteriorate. If they had seen that video on day 1 and found her the first week, the evidence would be that much better.

My REAL issue is that it seems like a simple lack of effort. Just watching a few hours of video. It is so simple. Yet, they couldn't even give this "runaway" that simple courtesy.

Kind of like when someone brings the truck back without gas, knowing I have a separated shoulder and an early appointment for the kids the next day. Or, goes to the store and doesn't pick up the one thing I need, so I have to go. Just simple little considerate things. They bug me when they don't get done.

I would have viewed that video as a cop OR as the motel manager. IF I knew she was missing, which the motel manager may not have until everyone else did. They said she disappeared from the house, did the cops even GO to the motel at ALL?

Some media reports out of Lubbock state that the accused attempted to deceive from the beginning and did not indicate that Ee was at the hotel. He originally stated she babysat at a different location.

How can they be happy with how this case has eventuated?

From the first few posts on here (I hadn't even read ANYTHING else) even I knew she didn't make it to the front door.

They must really thing people are stupid. I feel for her family so much. :(

JVM is on - caught a little of what she said about this case...I think she said she's gonna have Somer Thompson's mom on - she's been talking to Elizabeth's mom.

ETA: yep - she said Deana's coming up next w/ advice for Elizabeth's family

DT is in Lubbock - gave grant to Elizabeth's mom...said EE's mom in worse nitemare you can imagine...she can't stop crying, literally beside herself.

Commercial now - will be back to talk to DT again.

JVM back on - asking DT how to protect our kids from toxic people...DT talking about empowering kids.

JVM saying parents of kids who babysit should vet the adults....DT saying JVM's right, you never know who's laying in wait.

So that means that Diena Thompson has been in Colorado City and Lubbock today. She's got to be exhausted from two cases in one day. I am glad that she went to both families.

Here is the latest article I found. HS JR has some kind of nerve. I for one am so glad Texas has the death penalty, and hope that it's put to use in a timely manner in this case.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/missing-te...strangled-death-babysitting/story?id=12768898

Elizabeth's cousin C M who has been staying with V E since the teen disappeared, said Salinas blamed the girl's disappearance on his 19-year-old son.

"We were focusing on his son and it was because of him. He directed everybody towards his son," Moss said. "This Humberto Salinas...would make comments that his son is a worthless man."

Moss said local news reports that Salinas' son was Elizabeth's boyfriend are false and that the two were merely friends.

During the initial days of the investigation, Salinas stopped by V E home to ask about the investigation, Moss said.

"He sat there and looked me in the eyes, he's the devil. That he had the audacity to show his face," Moss said.

NG, opens show with detail that the MURDERER himself is the one who helped the family file the missing person's report. Police said he was there when they were asking questions and he purposely tried to throw them off.
'arms around the mother' supporting her.

Salinas was a trusted friend of the family, The mom was doubled over crying and he was there with his arms around her comforting and filing the police report

NG talking about perp filing the MP's report....asking Ellie why he's hanging out w/ the mother.

Ellie saying suspect was there when they (LE) took report.

TH psych.dr. wondering if HSjr is sociopath...said can explain why he was hanging out w/ mom.

Pat Brown said she thinks he's a psychopath....thinks EE's family had to have known about his violent past.

NG showing pic of HSjr - calling him "the face of the devil"..

I'm so sad...so very sad. Watching NG and wondering why they're not talking of a rape or not. Is LE insinuating that maybe it's the older son who did it? I know that's what the perp wants them to think. I pray she wasn't, but most likely not the case in crimes of this nature. We work so hard to keep our children safe, and sending them off to babysit should NOT be a death sentence.

My prayers go out to the family - especially the mother. That monster..that devil, had the nerve to touch her while filing the police report! Beyond words....

Sorry got behind posting about the show...I think I heard that Elizabeth's mom didn't initially tell LE about the motel, nor that she went there looking for Elizabeth...I'll have to check transcript later tonite.

I'm watching NG and this just makes me so . He's known her all his LIFE? A trusted friend?

This shows that in unsolved cases - EVERYONE IS SUSPECT!
