I really thought they'd give her probation or a slap on the wrist. This should be a lesson to other parents out there ... our children are priceless treasures and should be protected!

Now we'll have the appeal. Wonder how many years of the 20 she'll have to do behind bars, if the 20 sticks?

Is that what a precious baby's life is worth? 20 years with the poss. of parole in 5? The mother should be strung up in the town square. I'm sorry. She has an evil, despicable face and she knew exactly what her 🤬🤬🤬🤬 of a man was doing and did not care. Poor, little baby. It is incomprehensible. Diabolical. How is it possible that we keep finding these egg donors who lack any human, maternal instinct? And how is it that we keep letting them get away with it, which is what I think this sentence achieves? Outrageous.
God love you and keep you baby Emma.

A Harris County jury has sentenced a suburban Houston mother to 20 years in prison for not preventing the death of her 4-year-old daughter.

Jurors deliberated for about 1½ hours Tuesday before returning the maximum sentence for 34-year-old Abigail Young in the death of Emma Thompson. That's after convicting her Monday of recklessly causing injury to a child by omission.

I'd like to hear from the jurors. How did they arrive at their verdict? Were they aware of the possible sentence beforehand? I think usually they are not.

I hope it was without the possibility of parole!

Has the prosecution ever stated why they did not charge the pair with murder?

Has the prosecution ever stated why they did not charge the pair with murder?

short answer is no! Not really, only saying they would both be eligible for life in both charges against Young & Coe, same as with murder. Now, it seems like we were sold a bag of sh** by the DA. Never once was there a mention of Young being eligible for a lesser charge, on which the jury convicted her.

Thanks again to everyone who came together here to rally for justice for Angel Emma - and for being so wonderful about posting all the latest news! You all rock!!!!

One trial down (and probable appeal) and one more trial (Coe's) to go!

Found an article that said with good behavior, she'll do 5 years.

I'm not a "legal eagle," but at first I thought they reduced her charge because she wasn't home the day that Emma died - she was out shopping when the abuse took place. But, it doesn't make any sense to me why Coe isn't charged with murder.

good video here with her estranged husband making a victim impact statement and vowing to go to every parole hearing.

She was also fined $10,000 by the court :)

Heart wrenching. Emma's daddy was so angry and hurt. I hope he does attend every parole hearing and that he succeeds in keeping her behind bars for more than 5 years.

Rest in peace beautiful little girl, the angels will keep you safe.
