I am sick about this news.
I have been so worried about folks living in that area which is very rural.
This is my worst nightmare - that he would have come upon a family.
The news that 3 children were found dead is taking my breath away.

Here's the broadcast I was referencing. In it, <modsnip> Banfield rages at the authorities for not utilizing the media to get the word out. She says that they finally gave up after being turned down so many times.

I wonder if he has been at that home all this time, and when the family from Houston came today, he ambushed them for finding him out. It is not uncommon for some Houston area folks to have rural country places in that location.
This is a horror.
But IMHO Ms. Banfield’s anger is misplaced.
The news of this murderer’s escape was all over Texas, especially since it happened in Centerville which is so named because it is halfway between Houston and Dallas, and a mile or so from a major interstate. I would be doubtful than most folks who lived in that area, or had property there, had not heard about it. But I also think folks who are not crime watchers like those of us here might NOT be as alarmed as we are. I was traveling north on that interstate that day not long after the escape, and had to insist to my family that we NOT stop at our usual spot in Centerville. I had to do the same as we traveled that same route going south 2 days later when he had not been found yet.

That's exactly what I think happened too, as it makes perfect sense.
He finds a place to lie low, and had likely been at that location for days, if not weeks. They arrive, and he kills them, stealing their vehicle.

I think it's very likely he found a vacant home and suddenly the owners showed up and surprised him -- he had to take them all out. If Lopez, he killed 3 kids

During the press conference the spokesperson kept saying the home was “cleared” “several times.” Hmmm. So did Lopez just arrive today too? I don’t think so. JMO

Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety say that five people were found dead in Leon County near the area where escaped inmate Gonzalo Lopez was last seen in May. Lopez is believed to be tied to the murders, according to TxDPS.
