TX - Fertilizer plant explodes in West, Texas

  • #301
Looting happened in Florida (so kids were guarding what little they had with guns, where they got the guns who knows) and New Orleans during bad weather tragedies. It was the t.v. kind of stuff. Made no sense to me, where you going to put it or plug it in. Of course anything without people around was being taken. Greed. :(

And the number of displaced/homeless pets that are going to come from this disaster either because their owners have left them behind or possibly due to their owners death.

If anyone sees links for local rescues that will be evacuating pets please post it, I would like to donate. I would assume the shelters in that area are already overflowing so hopefully some agencies will be looking at transporting animals north.

If you are on Facebook, this is an informative open group.

OMG! Went to bed early last night and wasn't even aware until I woke up this morning. Prayers going up for my neighbors to the south in West.

Well it is Texas and folks are already pretty upset, hopefully the looters will be shot (which I believe may be legal in that state)

Honesty if I had just lost everything and had to evacuate my town with nothing but what I had on ,and I didnt have shoes and came across a pair laying in a yard of a destoryed home. I would so be wearing those shoes.
If there were glass and stuff everywhere (including chemicals falling from the sky) and my kids didnt have shoes..well I might even go looking for a pair somewhere I wouldnt consider in normal conditions. Dont shoot me.

People will meet their own immediate needs if they have to.

Watching a small herd of Charlais calves and some horses following some first responders about, they are scared, poor little creatures...

Some of these videos are horrific in the damage depicted. Stay strong Texas, no one can do it better than you.

Some good news, they are now reporting there is no threat of any toxic fumes coming from the area.

Wow...it is so great to see so many folks already stepping up to evacuate and care for the animal victims of this tragedy.

Those animals had to be terrifed and probably ran for their lives. I'll bet a lot are missing and scared. Who knows how far they ran so keep an eye out locals.

CNN and Fox are still reporting between 5-15 dead, hopefully it does not go as high as the estimates last night. This is a huge disaster that is bad enough already :banghead:

To give you an idea how much media are here, I just met a Danish reporter.

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I feel so bad for this frightened kid in this video! Dad was filming the fire from his truck maybe a half mile or so away when the whole plant exploded. You can see the truck was completely rocked, and the poor little guy is panicky, saying "I can't hear!" and "Dad, please get outta here!"

Hope he's okay.

ETA: It was a little girl, and they were 300 yards away--but apparently not [permanently] harmed.
Good news.
