TX - Fertilizer plant explodes in West, Texas

With my limited knowledge, aren't explosive chemicals used in the manufacture of fertilizer? In other words, this is not another "explosion" as seen Monday in Boston?

What a terrible week! So sad and upsetting. Is it too soon to see if this is a terrible accident or someone doing this to harm others?

yes it uses ammonium nitrate, first use is fertilizer, 2ndry is bombs/explosives.

This looks like a simple horrific accident where the fertilizer went up

One of the DFW sites said it started as a small fire, then hit the ammonium nitrate

And if you go back a few more days, the Titanic sank on April 12

I always find it really disturbing that not only did so many horrific tragedies with such big losses of life happened during the same 10-day period in April, but that Hitler was also born during this week.

Like, how often do we have two events that injure 100+ people within two days of each other?!

That photo is not the explosion in West, Texas. It is the refinery explosion in Big Spring in 2008
