I was wondering if it was the town where we'd always stop for kolaches on the way to Austin then I saw TexasGiGI's photo and there it was - the Czech Stop! (post #87) Oh this is so, so horrible. Prayers going out for all those affected!

Guy channel 5 is interviewing now says everyone is scared, everyone wants to pray. Worked at the auction center. Reporter asked him if it was ever a concern about the plant blowing up. Of course not. (note from me - I thought I'd get gassed by Union Carbide in good ole Kanawha County, WV before I got gassed here). This is 3 chemical explosions around me in 10 years. Weird.

The entire West Volunteer Fire Department that responded to the fire is missing. -NBC5 #WestExplosion #WestTX

The Mayor said it was only 5 or 6 firefighters.
I'm going to continue to believe that it was all 33 of them.

Our local meteorologist here in the east has colleagues in OK. They just showed the seismograph from OK, it registered very clearly there as well.

I keep flipping between the channels, who can sleep right, and fox 4 just said entire volunteer fire fighters are missing. Should be an update soon, so will hang on for that.

That tragedy was profiled recently on Mysteries at the Museum. So very sad.

The Mayor is safe and he's a volunteer firefighter.
I have to hope the Mayor is correct and it's just the 5-6 firefighters who initially showed up to the fire.

Update conference, hearts and prayers go out to everyone in our czech community, do not any more help, they are overflowing with help. Tomorrow morning, mayor will speak again, over 100 injuries at this time, confirmed fatalities, number on that not confirmed, searching area making sure it is safe. Wind blowing, anhydrous still smoking, guy was there, walked through blast area, massive, like iraq, like oklahoma city, you can only imagine damage, 50-75 houses damaged, apartment complex gone, nursing home, no idea about injuries but that is evacuated. DFW area helping, limestone, bosque, great turnout. He wishes he could give us more, going in to do another house to house search, that will be going on all night. Command post still set up for le. Plant is still smoldering, and still active ingredients at facility, they cannot get firefighters in there, they want people to be safe, not property. Hopefully at 6am will have fatality. Cannot confirm or deny 60-70 dead. Wishes he could. This is D.L. Wilson, TDPS, talking, worried about when wind changes, they may have to switch it up. They are getting him off, cop says they are busy.
