I hope that you are right. I personally found it offensive that this was considered "an officer involved shooting", same as if she had shot the guy while he had committed a crime.

The only thing that this guy did was stand up when a crazy woman entered his home, and started yelling at him. It will be a very bad day for all people, if the fact that this woman has a badge, gives her a pass on murdering a man in his own home, that she broke into without cause. The story that she thought this was her home, doesn't fly with me.
As bizarre as it is, I actually do believe she thought she had entered her own apt. But even if that's the case, she had no cause to shoot him. She couldn't have perceived him as a threat because she couldn't even see him---she shot at a shadow. And as mentioned previously, she could have backed out of the apt., into the hallway, and called 911 if she was fearful because someone was in her apt.

She didn't shoot him out of fear for her life or safety, she shot him out of anger because she thought there was a person in her apt. who had no right to be there, and the nerve of someone who would invade her home-- she's a cop-- she didn't have to put up with a criminal in her home. How dare he.

You can't shoot and kill someone out of anger and that's what she did. There's no doubt in my mind she'll be convicted and go to prison for years.

Who thinks AG will take the stand in this trial?

I don't think that she will. She would have to answer to a lot of what she said in her 911 call. Yet, is her attorney's story going to be good enough for the jury?

I don't think she will either.

What could she possibly say to justify what she did? During her rambling 'me me me' 911 call, she didn't say anything about him coming after her or she was in fear for her life and she was defending herself--nothing along those lines. And if that had been the case, she would have brought it up during that call. It was all about her going to the wrong apt and she might lose her job over this. Too late now for a story of 'I went into what I thought was my apt., a large figure lunged toward me, I was in fear for my life so I shot him'. Plus, where his body was found shows he wasn't coming toward her, he was trying to get away from her and she was advancing.

Do tell. What history is there in Dallas that suggests she might get a pass? I don't recall another incident like this---anywhere. TIA
Dallas has a rich history of people (particularly those of color) dying at the hands of LE. Thankfully recent years have seen improvements, but the legacy is still there. To your point, I know of NO incident where a Dallas police officer walked into an innocent person's apartment, thinking it was their own, and shot them dead.

After seeing officer after officer get a pass for egregious use of force here in the Pittsburgh area (Antoine Rose, for example), even with evidence that seems really clear cut, I admit that I'm very jaded that AG will face any sort of justice for this act. I also feel that they overcharged with first-degree murder, maybe to make it less likely that a jury would convict? I don't know. I'm cynical and skeptical about the whole thing.

I think we need a cleanup on this aisle.

There is another long running thread with 31 pages in Trials that did not include links to the first 3 threads on the first page OP:

TX - Former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger, indicted for Murder of Botham Shem Jean, *Arrest*

This thread is in Crimes in the News, is only 2 pages, but includes the links to the first 3 threads in the OP, but no link to the Trials thread I just linked^

I am reporting my own post to the Mods for some help before the trial gets going. Thanks.

I thought so but I’ve been out of this case for a bit. I started off heavily invested and am anxious for every word said in trial. Thanks. Maybe they can be merged? Idk

Quick question -- do we know how long Guyger had lived in that apartment?

I read 2 months.

There's this tiny part of me that wants to say, "police officers work long hours, she had just finished her shift and since she hasn't lived there very long I can see her being confused and entering the wrong apartment". But the way it played out certainly overshadows that tiny part of me.

It sounds like she came in, saw this guy, and started shooting. She didn't announce herself as police and give him a chance to respond? He was sitting on a couch watching football so it's not as if she came in the unit and saw a shady figure in the dark moving around and potentially committing theft. Did she think someone broke into her apartment to check out what cable package she subscribed to? How sweet of her to apologize to the guy after needlessly murdering him! I'm glad to see manners are still around in this day and age. MOO.

that's another thing she said it was completely dark in there , how could it have been if he was watching the game and if he is anything like me I don't eat anything in the dark especially cereal! So not buying what she is selling AT ALL!

As a juror I would want to see both apartments(a jury view of the scene)Very least see a side by side video/ photos of both apts, inside & out, lights off, lights on..the two parking garage levels, the front door, how it locks or swings open.
This doesn’t answer all your questions. But it does show the layout:

“The interior floor plan and exterior surroundings of each apartment are "identical" or "extremely similar" to each other, Armstrong wrote. Jean was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injury.”
Dallas officer who killed neighbor in his apartment said he ignored her verbal commands

this is pure speculation on your part and needs to be stated as such
