Judge called for a ten minute break. Judge appears emotional as well.

BBM: Yes, she did ! And I sure hope the Judge's emotion was for the VICTIM - not AG.

MOO !

Lets not forget she's getting ready to lie her face off and say he came at her and she had no choice but to shoot to kill. She's going to turn him into a suspect. In his own home, minding his business. Defense is about to paint him as the suspect. That's the kind of world we're living in. It's crazy!

BTW, I knew Rivera was married!!

I feel for the girl, but....I feel WORSE for the innocent VICTIM and his family!!!

I don't think that anyone is doing that. People are only expressing what they believe her emotions are about. The whole crux of this thing is if it's a mistake or not. If you (I mean "you" in the general sense) believe that it was a "tragic mistake" that's going to color how the emotion is seen. That's probably true for the opposite, as well.

That's fair.

Does she have any remorse for chasing a married man(dog).

I know I’m pretty alone in my thinking but I thought that was a genuine display of emotion for her. She was composed and held together until they started talking about the day she opened the wrong door, and a flood of obviously very painful and terrible memories came rushing back to her. What she did was we not right, but I don’t see a murderer here.

I agree. I don't see why she can't be an individual who made horrible decisions which resulted in a tragic death AND an individual who feels horrible about having made those decisions.

She is only crying for herself. Like we've see tons of others criminals do. I don't feel one bit of sympathy for her. My heart goes out to Botham Jean and his family in this moment. She didn't render aid. She tried to cover up evidence. She texted while he was dying. She deserves no sympathy.

I Agree.

Now, I would feel some - some sympathy IF she had rendered aid, and was NOT texting while on the phone with 9-1-1.

And she's LE ? Really ? SMDH !

MOO

I think she is genuinely upset that she shot and killed someone.

I feel sorry for both

What was the dialogue? I missed it. Was she asked if Rivera was married directly?

I agree. I don't see the point in crucifying someone for feeling extreme remorse for a tragic mistake.
Well that's why we're here, isn't it. Was that tragic mistake reasonable? Certainly going to the wrong apartment is reasonable. But after that, were her actions reasonable. Obviously we here are split on the issue. We'll see how the jury answers this question. My guess IMO is they will be split too, and there will not be any resolution in this trial.

Did you all notice how she snapped back really quickly when state asked for a break? Through her tears of woe. She said she wanted to keep going and get it over it or something like that. Hm. Sorry we've inconvenienced her!

For some reason, I get the feeling that she's the only defense witness testifying. Maybe because they put her on the stand first? Usually the accused is the last to testify.

The crying doesn't tell me anything useful. Who can say if it's remorse or self-pity? Impossible to know.

I kinda have that feeling as well.
RIP Bo

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>

She's a mess. How she lasted as a cop as long as she did is a real mystery. And that baby talk is irritating for an over 30 year old woman. Is that how she gives "commands"? She's acting!!

I doubt she's the only defense witness. They're going to bring in some experts to try to say she had a reasonable fear for her life blah blah blah. They wont' say it exactly like that because the judge is not allowing it but that'll be the gist. The typical dog and pony show at these killer cop trials.

You are absolutely right about that: the defense is going to make him the suspect and she is going to bald faced lie that he was close to her and coming at her ---

She isn't acting.

And she sounds like to me she has a cold or something

I'm glad I'm not the only being irritated with her baby voice. But her voice changed real quick when she snapped back at the prosecutor asking for a break didn't it? I'm glad that happened, and I hope the jury took note of that.
